I remember when this album came out. Yes, I still have it on vinyl. LOL.
Great album, great songs, lyrics are a tad corny all these years later.
For fans of the genre, not for the mainstream.
Another excellent offering from Kreator.
Release Date November 11, 1997
So I recently got into King Diamond. Recently as in 2008! So I am a brand new fan. So I have no real bias towards his work.
Everyone told me Abigail was the best and a great place to start. So I bought it.The album is indeed good, but I must say I perfer newer King like The Puppet Master or Give me Your Soul.
Abigail is more straight forward 80s classic metal.
Where as the newer stuff is almost a gothic metal. It is also much more structured and catchier.
Not saying either is better, but if you like things more on the goth metal side, go with new. If you are an old school metal fan, go with old.

Don't get me wrong based on the title, I love this album, and everything Sodom recorded. Just like South of Heaven, Countdown to Extiction, Practice What you Preach and The Black Album, people thought this was the best album based on album sales, where in reality, it was the albums before these ones that were the great ones. Agent Orange is a fantastic album, but it is no Tapping the Vein, or Persecution Mania. Sodom is the greatest thrash band ever because they have never drastically changed their sound. Sure they got heavier for Tapping the Vein, and even slowed down a bit for Sodom, but don't be fooled by record sales. If you like thrash metal buy any Sodom album. If you like death metal, buy Tapping the Vein, Masquerade in Blood, or In the Sign ... Read More:

On "Punishment for Decadence", Coroner move beyond the largely rote stylings of their initial release, "RIP", the guttural rasps of Ron Royce notwithstanding. Many songs on the record focus on neoclassical guitar riffs, arpeggios, and stylings that are reminiscent of perhaps what Vinnie Moore or Tony MacAlpine would sound like if they were also really into super-fast tempos, abrupt shifts in mood and feel, and lyrics pondering the misery of drug addiction ("Skeleton on your shoulder"), the type of decadent conformity that can destroy societies ("Sudden Fall"), or the murder of some mysterious politician who had "ulterior motives" ("Masked Jackal").
This is probably the second-best Coroner recording, after "No More Color" (although "Mental Vortex", ... Read More:

This is not "just" a jaw-droppingly excellent album songwriting and production-wise, but is a continually intriguing listen for musicians as well. In fact, this album could be favorably compared to such classics as Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and Sad Wings of Destiny in terms of musicianship and music composition.
There are several tricks and twists involving time signatures and anti-sonata form that rank this with the most imaginative Rock/Metal albums in history. The verse-chorus-verse-break-chorus/ I-V cliches of most metal are almost entirely abandoned on this cd. Instead what we get is involved and involving song structures, the antithesis of the sleep-inducing non-excitement of bands like Dream Theater and Avantasia (or, those "progressive" bands that try to ... Not thrash, speed, or death metal.
A great band and a great disc with some must have tracks.
Badlands, Spell Can't be Broken.
A must have?
I'm going to say yes.
Not very popular now a days.
But still, for a history lesson this disc is a must.
Release Date April 09, 2002
This is the best collection by far. I'm a megadeth army general and this is freak'n awesome. Mustaine is awesome. Good show - lots of content - excellent quality!!!

I was pleasantly surprised with this album. After the self-titled; that was still a "coal-chamberish" album this is a flawlessly livid music with great mosh-pit enjoyment.
One thing I know about Dez, is he carried a band for years "coal chamber" of course and wanting to sport change of sound then ended up a split of a band in differences of opinion and direction. So he's being wanting this opportunity for YEARS!! [yes, I fallowed him, f*cking sue me!!] This particular album floored my expectations and left out of the door quicker than the 1st. seriously what is your first thought when you hear his name "Dez Fafara" {?}
This band was very in-tune with what they wanted in the sound when they made it. You can tell this buy "End of the Line"!! My first thought ... Read More:

I heard this band when I first joined the Army and have never forgotten they're "I hear Voices" song. I introduced them to my brother who is 16 and he loves them as well. They are a great band if you like the heavier music.
