Like the other 1 star reviews this is just for the fact that this is not the Black Mark "666" issue.The bonus song is the one minute or so of the low groaning/chant sound that ends other bathory CD's.On the good side the songs match the Table of contents unlike some of the Black Mark Cd's.The cover work for Odin's Wild Hunt is off color and no CD information.The other side of the cover is black.This is a not a bootleg and if you buy a used copy of the Black Mark reissue listed in Amazon make sure it isn't a Kraze Manufactured CD.

I wouldn't really rate this as a "true" live album as the symphony concept was a rare event, and not something that truly portrays the songs as you would here them if Metallica was touring today.
S&M came out when i was in high school. Being a band dork, this was a great fusion of something I was fairly familiar with (classical ensembles) and Metallica, something I was just starting to get a taste for (its hard to dive right in when they were coming off of crapfests like Load and Re-load!) For all their missteps in the studio, they still had a great live act and a real wealth of great material. This turned me on to metal in all its forms and potential.
The first three tracks, this start's out with Morricone's "Ecstasy of ... Read More:

I heard the Nativity in Black part 2 , and except for Slayer , Megadeth , Pantera & Primus which are the best covers on this edition ,the rest of the tracklist (well System of a Down & Busta Rhymes renditions are ok)didn't do much. I prefer the first edition instead.

Of Unearth's three albums, this is probably their worst, though its not bad. Stings of Conscience is a great, raw hardcore sound, III: in the Eyes of Fire is refined, superfast european death/american metalcore hybrid. This album? the least fast, least heavy, and least effective.
There are moments that are great, true, but more moments where it gets kinda boring: not quite heavy but no real effort at something melodic. In that way it resembles nu-metal, though this band is way more talented, and sometimes on this disc, it shows.
Problem is #1) they sound way better before and after this one, and #2) most other metalcore bands sound like this.

I say for hardcore fans only because, this is not Metallica at thier best. For starters, I did not really dig "St. Anger." So, the song "Some Kind Of Monster" was not the reason I bought the album. I got it for the live tracks. Unfortunatly, I don't have a lot of live Metallica in my collection. I thought this would be cool and it was. Most of the songs I've not ever heard live, with the exception of seeing them in concert a couple of times. At least on this cd you don't get some of the same old tired tracks. I'm really sick of "Fade To Black, Enter Sandman, and Sanitarium." It was cool to hear some different tunes live. As far as performance goes, musically, they aren't too shabby. However, James Hetfield's vocals could have been a lot better. ... Read More:

Well said by Frederic Barras "Fred";
I too don't get how people say this CD is crap. This is by far Testament's best CD, IMO. Many of their best songs, refined/mature, well mixed. GREAT guitar work by Skolnick. Tempesta is solid/tight (but not very exciting). I've never been into Testament but this is the CD that finally turned me into a fan.

A huge leap forward from the dreadful Morbid Visions but still not the best disc out there.
Some good tracks, Troops of Doom.
But mostly throw away.
More mature songwriting, better lyrics. However, still for diehard Sep. heads only.
Sorry, not a must buy.

Black Metal is to a record collection what a good multi-vitamin is to a healthy daily regimen. It balances a record collection. Another analogy is that, regardless of how committed you may be to metal in general, you need to own Black Metal for the same reason they made you read Shakespeare in college. Everyone needs the exposure for a better perspective on the features of rock and roll culture.
Black Metal is an early archetype, an antithesis of false metal, a messenger bearing the message that things have changed. At around this point in the early 80's, the evolutionary trunk of hard rock forks, and bands follow either branch to glam/false metal/grunge/hesch baffoonery or something more. Black Metal may not be the exact point where this happens, but it ... Read More:

I havent felt compelled to write a review on an album in a long time. After the rather disappointing album Are you dead Yet? this gets back to what made Bodom a band to reckon with a few years back. The guitar solos are back in full abundance, the keys are more upfront, and the drums are completely in your face, most of the songs are much faster paced than on Are you dead Yet. Alexi's songwriting is just better and more imaginative, even the lyrics are way better. The hardcore/metalcore-isms on Are you dead Yet are gone and theres more melodic breaks that remind me of earlier albums like Follow the Reaper and Hatecrew deathroll. Actually you could think of this as a mix of those two albums. From reading the other reviews, it seems like this will be an underrated album which is ... Read More:
