I've had this album in one form or another since it came out in the 80's, so I've had plenty of time to listen to it, and I've come to this conclusion:
This is one of Megadeth's angriest and fastest albums, if Pantera defines heavy metal agression, Megadeth defines the heavy metal tantrum. The riffs are complex, the beats are fast, and the songs are hard and angry. Make no mistake though - this is a very technical group of songs played well by virtuoso musicians.
The writing isn't quite up to par with later work on "Rust in Peace" and "Symphony of Destruction" - there are no single songs that blow me away. All of the songs follow a similar pattern of building up from a slow intro more often then not into a thrash ... Read More:

I pre-ordered this CD and have been loving it every since it came out. It shows a fair amount of maturity over GT's previous efforts. The boys have found a way to give coherence to the chaos, and rather than that being a bad thing, it comes out sounding like they've hit their stride. This album sounds smart, layered and finished.
In my opinion, this album sounds more 'heavy metal' than their previous efforts. There are moments on the cd that sound like a garden variety metal band. Thankfully these moments don't last more than a few seconds, and it generally adds to the 'thickness' of the sound rather than sounding generic. I think this mostly comes from the new drum sound (Drumkit From Hell, maybe?) and the new guitar amp. Take that as you will, ... Read More:

Iron Fist is the closing chapter in one phase of Motorhead's history. It marks the last album with Fast Eddie (who also produced this one), and a lot of fans, even Lemmy himself, have said they don't care much for this album. Personally I don't understand why there are complaints. Perhaps it's frowned upon because it was the end of an era. Maybe because of the environment in which it was recorded- turmoil, fights, management issues, band member issues, increased drug use, musical differences, and trying to follow up their most successful album yet in Ace of Spades- maybe all of that makes it a bad memory for Lemmy.
It could be because Iron Fist was the first Motorhead song I ever heard back in 1982 (and it's still my favorite song) but I absolutely love this ... Read More:

What was the world expecting when Slayer released this ep?
If you were expecting greatness, then that's what you got.
The ep took the basic elements from Show No Mercy and refined them.
The songs drip with venom,ferocity,hate.
How can you not like Slayer for that?
Slayer has made their mark. This ep continues the dynasty.

AILD is probably the best Metalcore band out there. SAS is a solid album with really good songs construction and guitar work. Lots of power and energy. The only problem is: the vocals suck.
Yes, I know that growling and screaming is what Metalcore is all about (which is a big reason why so much Metalcore is garbage). Still, if they would get a singer who could/would sing, AILD would probably be my favorite band.
Leaving aside the lack of vocals, however, SAS is a very good album. (P.S., catch their live show if you ever have the chance).

Probably one of the most influential bands in the entire history of Thrash Metal. Almost all of these songs have been covered by other bands on various thrash labels.... Raw, Brutal and Beautiful..what more can you say?

If you didn't read my review for their other cd, I bought this one at the same time as Scream, Aim, Fire, based off of the title track single. The rest of that cd was disappointing. Each track dropped a little more to the emo sound. I heard that this one could not compare in aggressiveness to the newer one. Although it is not as heavy as the title track, this one is more consistent and heavier then the end of SAF. Both are listenable but I was expecting heavier.

Trully HD, sound and songs blasting, first time I buy anything from Motorhead and now I have become a loyal fan. Haven't seen the extras buy who cares, I just got metallized with the concert and great production that was developed for this product.

this is my favorite motorhead album. to me, this album is the perfect mix of old and new motorhead. songs to check out are, "walk a crooked mile", "shut your mouth", and "the game". if you only have room for a few motorhead albums in your cd collection, this is a must!
Release Date December 19, 2000
I always liked On Parole more than Motorhead (self titled), even though I like that album, too. It's Motorhead so it's hard not to like it. Anyways, this is the only recording of the Lemmy/Larry Wallis line up. I wonder what would have happened if this line up stayed together longer? If you've ever wondered how Lemmy made the transition from Hawkwind space rock to Motorhead's speed boogie, this is the key. If you like this record check out some Pink Fairies and Deviants.
And be sure to check out Mighty High...In Drug City, too!
