This isn't an album to be going overboard with "oh it's awesome" because it's not, you might as well not lie.
Now as far as having some good songs on it...yeah, I would personally say there are a few good ones. If you're an avid L Word fan like myself you will buy this CD anyway.
If you're looking for an L Word soundtrack with awesome songs, check out Season 2 or 3 for that.

The songs actually played during the show seemed much better than what was on this album. Maybe the next season's soundtrack will be better????

This CD, part of the soundtrack for Martin Scorsese's PBS series, showcases blues hits and singers from Robert Johnson and Son House to Robert Cray, Bonnie Raitt, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and the Allman Brothers. One can trace the evolution of blues from its raw beginnings to its more contemporary manifestations. As such, it is fun to listen to, although one can quarrel with the selections chosen for this single CD (there are other products available that are more inclusive). But I'm not quarreling about anything after having listened to this CD.
It starts right off with Robert Johnson singing "Cross Road Blues." It is always interesting listening to this artist, legend that he is. He sings with a raw blues voice and his characteristic ... Read More:

This is an excellent CD. The music is stirring and mysterious. A blend of classical, rock and folk music. Having watched the Angel tv series, I recognize most of the music and it can bring images of the show to me whenever I choose. I would recommend this CD to anyone who who loved the series.

I first bought Miami Vice and Miami Vice II albums as cassettes when I was driving over the road and only later went to CDs. Like the first Miami Vice collection, this one is not perfect, and many quality songs are missing, like Foreigner's "I want to know what love is", and Ted Nugent's fabulous and still hard-to-get "Little Miss Dangerous". Still, this album provides a wide array of great and rarely heard performances: Steve Jones' haunting "Mercy", Gladys Knight's "Send it to me", Phil Collins' "Take me Home", Patti LaBelle with Bill Champlin singing their powerful duet, "The Last Unbroken Heart", Roxy Music's rare and soulful "Lover", Andy Taylor's equally infrequent but hard-driving "When The Rain Comes Down", and Jackson Browne's protest song ... For all of the seasons i've listened to, and i admit, i'm not a big fan of the show but rather, a music critic and write a music column, i found this season's list to be the most interesting. Which is NOT to say that there are not other songs to be found on other seasons (so please, scope them out, because songs like "If You Leave" is truly worthwhile).
Still, you can't beat the list here - there is so much good, and so much that, at the time (and this is important to remember) was new (or new to the public; yes, you may have known it, just as i may have known it but i would guess that most viewers did not know Jet or Propellerheads by then, so you have to credit the OC with bringing these groups to the forefront).

I expected more from this album even though I read the track titles before I bought it. Transatlanticism and Breathe are the only real keepers in the mix for me. The Onion in the Petunia Patch is pretty, but really just a novelty. As a huge fan of the show and what I remember to be it's soundtrack, this album was a disappointment.
