Does anyone remember when TV shows had a theme? Today you never got a theme song or open music of show.
There were times you's hear the Hill Street Blues theme and it drags you into this hour long drama. Or the song Thank you for Being a Friend and you know the Golden Girls were on. Or that Tra La la of the Banana Splits show
If you dont know these theme, I must be talking over your head. Some have remarked these themes on this cd is short. These are the music which openned the shows and made you watch. In 56 minutes you get 50 YV tunes.YES there are some of the great NBC shows music missing (like Bonanza, Facts of Life, Hunter and the A-Team to name a few), but on the whole, fans of the TV generation will love this ... Not only is this something for X-Files fans, but also for anyone who is a fan of 90s music. Love the Foo Fighters version of "Down In The Park". Also Nick Caves' "Red Right Hand",that song you always heard but wern't sure who sang it. The opening theme song is so powerful sounding you almost forget that this is music for some sci-fi telvision show on Fox; Full length version too. No heavy metal from Filter however. Rob Zombies song is pretty loud and intense. The REM song is just some music with some old guy talking rather than singing, pretty dumb. I know an X-Files sdrk should have some weirdness but the REM song is one to forget. There are two hidden tracks on this cd. The only way to hear them is to rewind past the first track on your cd player.

Love the series, love the soundtrack. Cute pieces from the actual show, not just a compilation of pop songs that were used. Oh, and it has the Lady L song!!
Release Date October 25, 1990
Those reviews complaining that the tv themes are too short are correct, but most are the original recordings like heard from the shows themselves. If you are looking for or want the full version of these songs, look elsewhere, or maybe try iTunes. Some might be/maybe outdated, so take what you can get at this point in time. Don't worry, be happy!

I am going to go against the grain here and say that the second disc is better. I love the dance hits, and they are great in the show, but the second disc is the one that brings back memories of specific scenes from that season. I would have given it five stars, but there should have been more tracks.
I liked this one a lot. It takes the time to explore the group's sound and isn't as scattershot as were The Gift, Taboo & Exile, or Music For Children. The band gets an absolutely wicked groove going on "Exodus." Certainly fans of Zorn's more outrageous material might find this a bit tame, but it's also a sort of all-killer, no filler Zorn - a good point of entry. Marc Ribot and Joey Baron are outstanding on this album.

There was a lot more good music from the show they could and should have incluced, they probably could have drug this out to two or three cds but it's a fun little album and good for the price. Jack The Giant Killer story was a waste of like 8 minutes, should have axed this track.

I bought this album a couple months after it came out as one of my ten free album choices with my commitment to Columbia House. The act of listening to an entire album, track by track, isn't as well practiced as it was in the days when this soundtrack came out. Today most of us listen with iPods and randomized playlists. When I first got an mp3 player back in 2004, I started going through my CD collection, which, with the burning of each track to hard drive, became more and more obsolete.
Among them was the "Friends" soundtrack, which I hadn't listened to in years. It qualified to be one of the more interesting curiosities from the past decade that this new technology helped me revisit. Upon listening to the disc each hilarious scene, deep Proustian nostalgia set in. ... Read More:
