Possibly better than The Song Ramains the Same. If you like Led Zeppelin (considered one of the best rock bands and revalued generation after generation) I think this triple is a good choice. The singer is O.K (now his "Raising Sand" is astonishing), the guitarist is wonderful, the bassist sounds fine and the drummer was one of the best in his genre.

If you really listen to this CD/Album (in the old days), there are some hidden gems! I still remember the news about Keith Moon and wondering what are the Who going to do? They have a great new album out and no
drummer.
New Song, Guitar & Pen, Trick of the Light and Music Must Change are all
great, along with the John Entwistle's songs!

In Through The Out Door and Coda were abberations. ITTOD was JPJ's album and I guess that under the circumstances he did the best he could. Coda was an outtakes album which is not bad but not a legacy type of album. Presence on the other hand is Zeppelin at their hardest and tightest, an awesome album bracketed by two of the greatest tracks they ever laid down - Achilles Last Stand and Tea For One. I first heard ALS when Presence was first released and thought it was the greatest thing Zeppelin had ever produced. I still think it's one of their top 5 tracks but on a par with it, for me, is Tea For One. I bracket it with In My Time Of Dying as two of the greatest blues tracks ever made. JP's playing on this track is blistering. God knows how many guitar tracks ... Read More:

What if the Beatles had released this album without the movie. And if they themselves had written the orchestral music on the B-side. And released this as an epic semi-progressive rock tale about a Yellow Submarine. Then this might have been a real classic album in the progressive rock genre, almost a year before King Crimson appeared.
But when we know that these songs were just thrown together, 2 of them previously released, 2 of them from the archives being Sgt Pepper-rejects, and the orchestral score of course being written by George Martin for a film, then it's considered a disappointment. Even if the music in both cases sounds exactly the same. Isn't that an interesting thought?
My advise is this: take YELLOW SUBMARINE with a grain of salt and find that ... Read More:

I like this album for the most part, I own every recording by LZ (except some rare imports), including DVD versions and DVD-A (5.1). The second disc is recorded with reasonably good sound for that period. The first disc is MONO not stereo, which ruins it for me. Still a good purchase for any true Zepp fan.

It's difficult for me to speculate how many hundreds of times I've played this double CD set but I'll just say "often, for many years". "The Best of The Doors" represents the very essence of Classic Rock music of the turbulent 60s.
The Doors generated a unique, incredibly palatable sound, apart from all others. While this caveat probably exuded from "theater" as much as it did from musical innovation, the band's keyboard player, Ray Manzarek, was clearly as responsible for the brilliance of these compositions as was Jim Morrison himself.
Here's the lineup of these great old rock tunes:
CD No. 1
Break on Through
Light My Fire (7:05 version)
The Crystal Ship
People Are Strange
Strange Days
Love Me Two Times ... Read More:

This is the last Who album. Who Are You was a coda (albeit an alright one) and the albums with Kenney Jones were by a different band. You can't lose an energy like Moon and go on pretending you're The Who. You're not, you're the Who's Left. And that's okay, go be the best darn new Who you can be! But recognize the difference and act accordingly no matter what anyone says, because if you build it they will come. That's where I think The Who got it wrong post 1978, which is a shame because I really like Face Dances, it just could have been better.
But I'm not here to discuss all that now am I? No.
By Numbers...great album. No synthesizers, no Rock Opera. This is the return of the My Generation Who (or if you wish to acknowledge the self-referential pun of the album title, The ... Read More:

to begin with I absolutely abhor all the so called commercial stuff they did. Meddel and Dark slight of the moon and beyond were all atrocious LPs and cds.
This one, and the zabrisky point soundtrack and atomheartmutha and oomagooma are good staff also obscurred by clothsis an okay album yes?
