It's The Who. Live. At Leeds University. Duh. How come you haven't bought it already? Powerful live set from seminal rock four-piece, blah, blah, sizzling energy, innovative songwriting, blah blah....Keith Moon....buy it. Listen to it. Have mind blown.
Release Date August 16, 1994

I can remember being a freshman in high-school and going to school dances in Bakersfield Ca, and occasionally going home to the OC and going to church dances with friends, and the pretty girls lining the walls or hiding in the Ladies room, but when "Smoke on the Water" would be played, they would all be desperately looking for someone to dance with as soon as the first bar of the song was played.
Adolescent boy's prayers were answered.
This is still the favorite Deep Purple album for most of my friends 36 years gone by now!

This is just one of those mind blowingly great albums. It is so great, as in one of those albums that when you listen you might wonder to your self -- Wow, is there a human on this earth with such bad taste that they don't like this? If someone tells you anything but that this album is great, their taste in all things should be questioned. If you don't have this already, get it now!!!!!!!!!

What if the Beatles had released this album without the movie. And if they themselves had written the orchestral music on the B-side. And released this as an epic semi-progressive rock tale about a Yellow Submarine. Then this might have been a real classic album in the progressive rock genre, almost a year before King Crimson appeared.
But when we know that these songs were just thrown together, 2 of them previously released, 2 of them from the archives being Sgt Pepper-rejects, and the orchestral score of course being written by George Martin for a film, then it's considered a disappointment. Even if the music in both cases sounds exactly the same. Isn't that an interesting thought?
My advise is this: take YELLOW SUBMARINE with a grain ... Read More:

What can you say about the Beatles??!! My daughter loves the movie (it was my first movie when I was 3), so we bought the soundtrack for the car. We all love it, and we all sing along!

Another strange album from Pink Floyd. Not that it's that bad, by any means, it's just that they still don't know what sound they want. This is Pink Floyd's peak as a progressive band, but Pink Floyd are not known for being progressive now, are they? They're known for being spacey and out there. This isn't that out there. Well, the title track definetly is. Written in collaboration with Ron Geesin, a avantgarde composer. The suite is fairly impressive to be perfectly honest, and it does paint the way for future epics, but it loses momentum after a while. The main theme is terrific, very epic sounding and paves the way for The Wall even. Gilmour contributes more solos on this album, which is fine by me, I love me some Gilmour solos. Breast Milky, the second part, ... Read More:

So why should you buy this? Pretty much because it's the best live album out there from the band (Mach 2 of course). I am not sure why the sound is just so much better than 1988's Delicate Sound of Thunder but it just does! Delicate Sound sounds so "flat", where as this just surrounds you from all sides and you get a feeling that you're front row center (minus the lasers and flying pigs of course).
A trip through the hits plus a full Dark Side of the Moon? Just get it Bruno, you won't regret it.

It's difficult for me to speculate how many hundreds of times I've played this double CD set but I'll just say "often, for many years". "The Best of The Doors" represents the very essence of Classic Rock music of the turbulent 60s.
The Doors generated a unique, incredibly palatable sound, apart from all others. While this caveat probably exuded from "theater" as much as it did from musical innovation, the band's keyboard player, Ray Manzarek, was clearly as responsible for the brilliance of these compositions as was Jim Morrison himself.
Here's the lineup of these great old rock tunes:
CD No. 1
Break on Through
Light My Fire (7:05 version)
The Crystal Ship
People Are Strange
Strange Days

Well...we saw it coming! This album would probably only be in your collection because you wanted to complete your Stones collection...right?Well I'm a huge Rolling Stones fan and it's NOT in my collection,(I lost a huge amount of albums in a flood and GHS was one of them).I remember buying this album when it first came out, taking it home and putting it on the Pioneer turntable and.....disappointment.That is why I have not replaced it.To me,this album is where the Stones got off the musician train and got on the rock star train. It's not their fault I suppose. After pumping out all those fabulous albums of the late 60's,early 70's,mediocrity was bound to catch up with them and did, starting with Goats Head Soup and continuing with almost everything after. It's not suprising ...
