Don't listen to the inexperienced reviews here. One of JG's best works! If you are a fan of the movie, this soundtrack is a real treat. My favorite tracks are: Track 3-My Right Arm, this short track speaks emotional volumes. Track 9-Scorpion, incredible, draws you right in, you can practically see the scene from the movie but this track HAS TO BE PLAYED LOUD. Track 11-Engage, another to be played loud. Track 12-Final Flight, you can almost see Data 'fly'. Track 14-New Ending, 'Blue Skies' intro fade into Trek theme is spectacular. I purchased the SACD for the extra $ and bought a SACD player just for this disc. WOW! - In 5.1 audio, you will be blown away, like nothing you've ever heard! Blast Track 9 and you'll see what I mean. MORE SACD RELEASES!!!

All star trek music is beautiful and this one is no exception! The main theme is brilliant and some of the tracks especially towards the end of the soundtrack give me tingles up my spine. So emotionally played, it is unbelievable that star trek music is not more popular than it is.

This CD has been around for a while now but it is still truly a good compilation of Science Fiction film music given a new dimension by being recorded digitally. The BATMAN selections composed by Danny Elfman are very powerful combing rousing elements with moody enigmatic passages. Most of the other selections are short or confined to one piece. The selections from TWILIGHT ZONE: THE MOVIE, STAR TREK V: THE FINAL FRONTIER and POLTERGEIST all composed by Jerry Goldsmith are all performed with passion and demonstrate Goldsmith's great versatility. Bernard Herrmann's "Outer Space" from THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL is brief but in effect makes it all the more powerful by its great innovation and lasting impact. The WAR OF THE WORLDS "Prelude" by Leith Stevens ... Read More:

In this opening chapter of the excellent DS-9, we meet Dr. Bashir, the nicest, smartest Muslim in the galaxy. Truly Science Fiction. Star Trek again precedes social reality! (An American and a Russian cooperating? A black female officer?) And the part is even played by a real Arab actor.
Release Date November 14, 2000
If you've got all of the movie soundtracks (like I do), then don't bother with this one, because it's just picking the highlights from the first 6 movies.
Release Date April 01, 2008
Star Trek V the final frontier (1989) has a wonderful soundtrack! The music is produced by Jerry Goldsmith! Jerry Goldsmith did the music for Star Trek the motion picture(1979)! I recommend this soundtrack CD because it is very good. Star Trek V is very under rated and the soundtrack is is also under rated! Please give this Star Trek V CD a chance! It is better than you think! A+ I highly recommend it!

This pricey UK import CD filled a lot of gaps in my music collection and is an excellent overview of notable music of (mostly) recent films. It's difficult to find consistently listenable soundtrack collections like this, by that I mean free from the obligitory Whitney Houston or Celine Dion embarrassments. Usually rights issues prevent comprehensive compilations like this in the US, too. While I enjoy a lot of soundtrack music, there aren't so many complete soundtracks that I would care to own, some examples of exceptions being Ennio Morricone scores and the About a Boy Soundtrack. While certainly most of these tracks are the actual recordings used in their respective films, I noticed that "La mamma morte" from Philadelphia is not the Maria Callas version. There might be other cases ... Read More:

Generally I agree with Strategos in his ecstatic Spotlight Review above. It is a joy to here some of the most memorable themes and cues from some of the most memorable science fiction and fantasy movies (re)recorded in great sound and in lavish (re)orchestrations, played by renowned classical orchestras, namely the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra and the Philharmonia Orchestra, no less.
I have always had a weak spot for (good, or maybe even intelligent) science fiction/fantasy and film music, especially its way of evoking mystery, grandure and wide open spaces. Call it a weakness if you want. But it was maybe really kick started off, for as far as I can remember, with Star Trek. But especially Star Trek II, III and IV - essentially ... Read More:
