I was very surprised to see Jerry Goldsmith's name attached to "Star Trek: Voyager". Well, there is nothing wrong with that, except that we're talking about a TV show. No matter, Goldsmith's main title is one of the best themes "Star Trek" has ever offered. Goldsmith's signature instrument -the French horn -plays the sweeping notes that cromprise such a wonderful and epic track.
Later we have a treat of one of the Next Generation's composers. Jay Chattaway provides a suspenseful yet interesting composition. 'Prologue' and 'Escape From The Ocampa Underground' are the best action tracks. We are also treated to the banjo at the beginning of 'Lifesigns In The Barn' and 'The Caretaker's Hoedown', such interesting use in a sci-fi show. ... Read More:

Diane Duane is, IMHO, one of the best Trek authors to grace the business. She has a true grasp of Vulcan culture and attitude; that's one of the things I liked best about this story, is that it flips back and forth between present-day political situations on Vulcan (a desire to secede from the federation) and the evolution of culture on Vulcan. The book is sprinkled with humor in just the right proportion; the characterizations are dead-on perfect. Sarek and Amanda are well-done, and even T'Pau makes an appearance. The only thing that detracts from the book is that it presents a view of current Vulcan politics that isn't quite canon - that's why it only gets four stars from me. However, as far as the story goes, it's excellent; I ... Read More:

I listened to tracks 4,5,7,8,13, and 14.
Tracks 4,5,7, and 8 are DEFINITELY from the pilot episode
"The Menagerie" with Jeffrey Hunter (Captain Pike).
The long, drawn out transporter sequences on tracks 4 and 5
are easily recognizable from "The Menagerie", as is track 7
the Alien Planet Surface, and track 8 the Communicator Beeps
(it's the uncharacteristic "long beep" from "The Menagerie").
Track 14 the Warp Drive is a longish sequence and again sounds
suspiciously like the one heard on "The Menagerie".
As such, these sound tracks are not very representative of the
series, as the device sounds changed subtly but definitely
when NBC picked up the show with Shatner, ... Read More:
