"Encounter at Farpoint" (Written by D.C. Fontana and Gene Roddenberry, First aired September 28, 1987) was the two-hour pilot "movie" that introduced us to the new crew of the new starship "Enterprise-D" as they come together for the first time on "Star Trek: The Next Generation." The initial mission for the Galaxy-class starship is to check out Farpoint Station, which has been created on Deneb IV. Captain Jean-Luc Picard is not only trying to negotiate an agreement for Starfleet to use the station, but to try and learn how the Bandi built something that is clearly beyond their technological capabilities. I love this CD because when I need a dose of Star Trek I can have it. This is nice going to sleep music after a long day. Try it out. You won't be sorry when you get It. Take it from me a VERY TRUE STAR TREK FAN. God Bless.
Release Date April 16, 1995
In this opening chapter of the excellent DS-9, we meet Dr. Bashir, the nicest, smartest Muslim in the galaxy. Truly Science Fiction. Star Trek again precedes social reality! (An American and a Russian cooperating? A black female officer?) And the part is even played by a real Arab actor.

I like this CD a great deal. It is one of my favorite soundtracks. However, when I tried to load my copy to iTunes, the format wasn't compatible. Something weird about the "enhanced" CD thing. So, I'd suggest that if you want a CD to load to an iPod, you buy the mp3 download version.
Release Date March 20, 1995
The music is lush with a full rich orchestra playing the episodes soundtracks interconnected into full suites. These were newly recorded (1985) soundtracks by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra that rendered virtually the entire episodes. This was the first Volume of a two volume set. You can almost follow the unspoken dialogue in each of the two selections on this immersive album. Although the episodes selected for this first volume were not my favorites, they did offer the unique selections seldom or never heard in other episodes, unlike some episodes that consisted of pieces from the precanned music library. If you purchase this album, I highly recommend the superior second volume, with 4 episodes/suites, to complete this set.
