This is my all-time favorite Brazil '66 album. Sexy, sensual, exudes a feeling of warm weather and warm emotions. Captivating rhythms, poetic, evocative lyrics, with lovely, intricate vocal and musical arrangements. A joy from beginning to end and a must-have for romantic evenings.

Sometimes the stars align for a recording date, and something inexplicably perfect and right and synchronous occurs. On the evidence, that appears to have happened when Frank Sinatra, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Claus Ogerman, and a small orchestra assembled one day in a recording studio to play the songs of Jobim and a few other American classic tunes given a similar "bossa nova with strings" re-working.
For virtually the entire album, the focus is on softness and controlled intensity, which is very difficult for musicians, especially vocalists and woodwinds. On this stereo remix of the four-track original tape you hear orchestra left, orchestra right (with drum kit). In the middle, slightly to the right, is Frank himself. In the middle, slightly ... From all the festivals organized during the late sixties this is the best covered from them all, both on audio and image. I personally love it and I am currently looking for more information about it. My main concern is the MUSIC performed at the event either on audio and / or video.
This 1994 version is a good effort because it gives us more music performed at the event and it is chronologically more accurate than previous releases, but it is still incomplete and some artists are still lost in the archives (Blood Sweat & Tears, Bert Sommer, and The Incredible String Band).
MESSAGE FOR THE RECORD COMPANY: ¡¡ Please release a definitive edition and help us to save some money !!
The booklet included in this box gives a lot ... Read More:

This is an excellent collection of songs. I have heard it many times and I like the swings it has from slow, sad songs to fast paced ones. I discovered this cd in down-town Athens. I was going to work and every morning out of a cd shop Cesaria's voice was coming out. This was going on for almost three months. One morning, as if I were "hypnotized", I went in and I inquired about it. At first I was surprised with the looks of the bare foot diva (nothing like today's glistering pop-artists). This is a further proof though that the success of this artist is not based on the looks but on the spontaneous, unique way of singing. I like every single song in this CD and I think it is the ONE that someone has to bye from Cesaria's music.

Right at the dropping hour of grunge, this tasty sonic assault emerged, and it was good. VERY good. Sepultura was about as heavy as it got back in 1991, other than the then laboring in (mostly) obscurity, fledgling death, black and grind scenes...
Heavy, brutal, raw, primal, aggressive, antisocial, tribal, throbbing and pounding... nothing else in 1991 sounded anything like this. And it's still extremely good today. Most death metal has easily surpassed this disc in terms of sheer brutality, but Sepultura ain't far behind. The throat on Max FAR eclipses most death grunters and croakers in brutal, as you could UNDERSTAND and FEAR him. That's how it's done RIGHT. Max had something intelligent and socially relevant to say (that didn't fully emerge until ... Read More:

Mercedes Sosa (1935) is one of the greatest Argentinean folk singer!
She jumps to public attention when she was fifteen years old winning a singer's radio contest in Tucuman, her natal Province. From that point on she continues growing up as a notorious figure in the folk singers medium.
Due to difficult political situation at Argentina in 1979 she was forced into exile by military Junta, revisited Argentina briefly in 1982, giving a live recital and returned definitely in 1984 with the arrival of democracy.
The songs of this CD reflect Mercedes' musical life, not only Argentinean music but a wide and rich Latin American repertoire.
"La Maza" and "Unicornio" from Cuban Silvio Rodriguez's repertoire. In the first one, the author of the song ... Read More:
