A wonderful recording that still sounds great today. There was no one quite like Mary Martin. For me she was the classic performer just as was Ethel Merman. These ladies were in a very special class of performer.

Having been to and enjoyed the musical whilst on holiday in New York I decided to buy the soundtrack when back in the UK. From the first song to the last I loved the soundtrack and, if nothing else, can remind me of the time I spent in New York and the show in particular.
The tunes are great, the lyrics highly amusing and very much in keeping with the original film.
I can't wait to go back to NY to see the show again. Thank you Mel Brooks.

I don't like blood or gore, but I absolutely ADORED this movie and music :-D And did I mention I'm not a Depp fan, either? He and Helena Bonham Carter were born for these roles. The music is clever, unique, unusual, and not really boring- these are the characteristics of a Sondheim musical :-P My husband and I fought over this CD for a couple of months Lol :-P Give this CD and movie half a chance :-D!!! I also LOOOOVED that they had the lyrics in the booklet, soooo awesome :-D!!!!! I had "The Worst Pies in London" down pat (with the rolling pin!) for a while there :-D

This is easily the most satisfying and interesting musical theater score of the year, emerging from the best musical to arrive in New York this season. The show itself is a wonder, and the CD captures much of what's great about it. This is a score that confounds expectations, although it does include a few pastiche numbers, for dramatic effect. But for the most past, composer Joshua Schmidt, along his libretto collaborator Jason Loewith, have created something totally new, while certainly reflecting the influence of Kurt Weill, Marc Blitzstein, and others. Anyone interested in the future of serious musical theater will want this CD.

One of the best things about the "Battlestar Galactica" CDs is that, unlike many other TV or film soundtracks, the majority of tracks on this album contain full-length compositions, not just little snippets of music that last less than a minute. Season Three of "BSG" was probably the most dramatic season the show's had thus far, and the music is all very intense, energetic, and emotional. Obviously, the best track on this album is the version of "All Along the Watchtower" performed by Bear McCreary, featuring Bt4. This is the song that played during the last few minutes of the dramatic season finale, and it's a fantastic cover version of a classic song. There are also a lot of other great tracks from the show's score included on this album. Highlights include ... Read More:

The soundtrack to Grease is actually one of the five albums that changed my life. When I was a tee weeny little boy, this soundtrack and the film were the first real adult type of fare that I came across which actually affected me in any way. T
he film was so exciting to me I made every relative I had take me to see it claiming I had never seen it before. My Aunt and I listened to it on my Grandma's big record player in the living room - one of those things that look like a cabinet but actually house a record player and in Grandma Ferlie's case an 8 track player. Then I made my mom buy me the 8-track for myself.
I sang every song as if it were my own and as if I knew what half the words meant. "Summer Nights", "You're The One That I Want", ... Read More:

When I first got this C.D. when it first came out a year ago or whatever I was much more childish and liked it but now it's like what was I thinking. The music is just...I dunno too childish so for maybe ages who love Hannah Montana they'll like it but if you just sort of like her don't waste your money!

Our 3 year son really loves this CD, we sing along with it in the car all the time. The "Knights" music are really well put together and never bore us on long rides.

The 1983 movie has become a cult classic, thanks to VH-1 & DVD, and the soundtrack keeps on truckin' due to the FM rock anthem, On The Dark Side.
John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band bounce along the musical path forged by Bruce Spingsteen, but without the passionate lyrics that made "The Boss" a true star.
With poetic-sounding song titles from the summertime like Tender Years, Boardwalk Angel and These Oldies But Goodies (Remind Me Of You), the soundtrack does capture the flavor of a fictional band - Eddie and the Cruisers - who are poised to graduate from the bars to the national spotlight...until tragedy strikes.
But - in the category of art imitating life - the highlight for the real and fictional bands is the sizzling sounds ... Read More:
