I really enjoy the music and singing of the original Phantom of the Opera. I have been looking for just the musical CD for sometime. I play it alot whil I am cooking, cleaning etc. The sound is great and so are the voices of Sarah Brightman and Michael Crawford. The original soundtrack is the best and it gives me such a lift to hear such beautiful voices. I have recently bought a CD of Sarah Brightman just because I have the recording of the Phantom.

There are reviewers grumping about this soundtrack.

I'm NOT so grumpy about it.

Between the choice of iTunes downloads of just the songs I want vs. the cost of the CD, the entire CD wins in this case.

I give it 2 thumbs up - it's worthy of driving with the windows down!

PS ~ CD players are PROGRAMMABLE (and so are MP3 players) so you can keep the fast songs with the other fast songs, and the slow ones with the other slow ones. The soundtrack follows the order of the music in the movie. That is certainly NOTHING to complain about! (And no reason to give a good song 4 out of 5 just because it is upbeat and comes after a slow song!)

Not only is the movie one of my faves but so is the soundtrack. I have an addiction to buying soundtracks and this one tops the list of my many. Its so good I'm using a few of the tracks for my wedding.

Sandwiched between Meddle and Dark Side is this album, which is unjustly forgotten about due to the fact that it's overshadowed by the masterpiece that immidiatly followed it. Which is a real shame, becuase there's some good stuff on here that definetly paved the way for Dark Side Of The Moon. Listening to this album, you can tell that they were destined for greatness, but it hasn't quite shown just yet. There's some damn good melodies on this album that's closer to Dark Side then Meddle. The title track and When You're In are both highlights with it's gritty synth patterns, carefully constructed guitar bends, and one powerful 3-chord riff.
