I confess, I was never part of the civil rights movement, but Mavis gives us a living, breathing account of those times. This album perfectly conveys that message. But I think what so defines this music is that the themes are so universal. Injustice, prejudice, bigotry is wrong, whether you are living in Mississippi or in some other part of the world, we are all God's children and we must take a stand against it.

It's playful, but a bit unfulfilling.

SOS is fun, playful, though I found it very annoying. It's redundant, moreso than it needs to be. It does not progress. It's also childish. Kisses Don't Lie starts off like a sing song type tune. It progresses quite well and is more mature than SOS. It is still able to be considered fun, though being more soulful. It seems like it would be easy to dance to with a catchy hook.

Unfaithful is both beautiful and sad. The lyrical content is lovely, a bit poetic, but some people seem to take the murderer lines a little too seriously. The background is also gorgeous. Although certainly a very large statement given Van's incredible body of work, this could- in my opinion, very well be his finest moment. The sheer power and beauty of his vocals is sonic perfection to these ears. The instrumentation is wonderful and the songs rank among his best. Get it, now! You certainly won't regret it! I personally recommend the Japanese mini-lp version, played loudly and often. You Don't Pull No Punches- Indeed!!

I've been a fan of michael franti since his disposable heroes days. Actually the first time I saw him was before their album dropped. He opened up (by himself) for living colour at the warfield in s.f.. He was a force to be reckoned with and quickly got the crowd behind him. Impressive because a lot of people didn't know who he was and also he was basically doing a poetry slam reciting "television the drug/and socio-genetic experiment". My next experience was at a disposable heroes of hiphoprisy show that I ended up at by default because the nirvana show had sold out. They didn't disappoint probably one the top ten shows that i've been to.

If this is the Very Best of Dusty then what it tells me that she had a couple of good songs which are on this CD. The rest sound like rehashing of the hot sellers. Dusty is a Great singer and I'm glad to reminisce about those days past. But the rest of the songs I surely don't remember on the hit parader back then.

Here, we have a brilliant assemblage of '60s tunes that will transport any Baby Boomer back to as close as one can get to the good old days.

I particularly love this CD because they've revived some great songs that would have been otherwise forgotten for me. I swear that the folks who pulled this brilliant selection of tracks all together into one CD must be the scoundrels who stole my beloved giant box of 33s and 8-tracks!

It would have been nice if they had included each and every song from this superb film but something is better than nothing at all. For anyone into '60s nostalgia, this CD is a must.
