I like mellow New Age music, although I prefer the more electric, rowdy fusion music. But still, when a special album comes out that really shines as a masterpiece, you have to give The Devil his due. Conferring With the Moon is such a special masterpiece. I won't go into my personal musical history, although I have tried recording and putting my own songs together into an album, and I know that you never realize how songs are going to come together into an 'album unit' until you hear the album as a whole. And every once in a while, the right collection of songs just comes together and gels and becomes something special...an entity that is just greater than the sum of its parts. William Ackerman acheived that goal with this album! Some ... Read More:

I purchased this as a "new" cd; however, when I received it, I opened the package and the cd had a big scratch on it. I promptly returned it to Amazon with full explanation and asked for a credit. However, I have not yet received my credit or confirmation that the return was received.

A few weak tracks, but some real gems on here all performed on Taylor Acoustic Guitars. Steve Stevens (from Billy Idol) plays a great flamenco on Sadhana. Clint Black does a fine version of The Claw. And Amy Grant and Vince Vaughn perform a moving How Great Thou Art. Characterizing it as "New Age" is a bit unfair. Just some really good acoustic guitar performances from a good collection of artists including the late Michael Hedges and William Ackerman.

While this is obviously tailored towards a stress filled society and is to be recommended for that, I personally enjoy the relaxing music which I found by accident on [...] The two cds I possess from this site have a variety of stunning sounds tailored towards the relaxation market which I can recommend anyone who is searching into this particular genre. These cds are highly recommended and great to sleep or meditate too.

I like the mixture of the nature sounds with the piano, the melodies are quite beautiful, good for driving. If you prefer something without the nature sounds, but still enjoy the piano instrumentals, try a young gentleman called Justin Hunter, and Australian Independent artist. He's quite talented also.

I have many faint very early childhood memories of "Behind THe Waterfalls" and really loving the song. Though it was many many years before I finally knew who it was by, it remained a mystery yet I'd hear it on the radio many times over time. It later turns out that it was by David Lanz and Paul Speer and it's not the only great track on here. This entire album speaks of Enlightenment and has a strong connection with mother Nature and speaks to it's prettiest and most magnificent side (Mother Nature can be cruel though) and the need to protect it. The album cover perfectly conveys the mood and feel of the album. The music definately shows it's age in many places all across the album but "Natural States" is arguably among the most famous and popular ... Read More:

Like many, I bemoan the fact that Martha Argerich hasn't been doing any solo recitals or making any solo recordings for quite sometime now. In fact, she has eschewed the recording studio altogether, preferring to release only live concerto & chamber recordings. We can, however, take great solace in the fact that these live recordings, particularly those from the Lugano Festival, have been absolutely brilliant, this present release being no exception. These performances were recorded at the 2006 edition of the festival, where we hear Argerich at her dazzling best. The Shostakovich Piano Concerto #1 finds the virtuoso pianist offering a stunning performance of this challenging Russian masterpiece, with able accompaniment given by the Orchestra Della ... As a new mandolin player, I've gotten great value from this DVD set. Easy pieces to play nicely broken down into bite-sized learning chunks. Also fun to get to know Sam Bush a little better.
Release Date July 26, 2005
The CD is great...it did not disappoint. It's got the new age sound I love and is wonderful background music while reading, working, or sitting around with friends. I recommend it.

I first fell under the spell of David Lanz's new age piano stylings when I purchased 1996's SACRED ROADS. At that time Lanz had already been recording for more than a decade. In 2002 I picked up the 2-disc anthology ROMANTIC: THE ULTIMATE DAVID LANZ NARADA COLLECTION. At 27 tracks and two hours of music, it was a nearly flawless compilation. Three years later Narada lifts ten tracks from that album and calls it BEST OF. The music is, of course, excellent; but it's nowhere near as complete--or satisfying--as ROMANTIC. Not only is the 2-disc collection a better buy, it makes BEST OF unnecessary.
