I am a avid classical musician who likes to listen to all sorts of traditional music. I ran across this CD in grandma's house as a teenager. This performance preserves the mood and spirit of the original while infusing a distinctly modern flavor. It made me appreciate what contemporary compositional styles and instrumentations can add to traditional music. The standard orchestral interpretation can get dull sometimes. The synthesis of old and new elements of style make for an interesting and entertaining hearing. This is an excellent buy.

I heard Track 3, from this CD, for the first time 45 minutes agao while I was upstairs checking on my sleeping daughter. My first time hearing a slack-key guitar. It's amazing, beautiful. I've added this to my Christmas list.

There is something so deeply spiritual, simple and honest in his gift that will touch your soul. I play this CD over and over again and never tire of it. I am a psychotherapist and at the end of the day, I listen to Sunset Meditation. There, in his music, I can enter into a peaceful and safe place where I can release the day. Buy this CD.

As someone who works from home, this is a wonderful collection to put on during the day. The beautiful arrangements of some of film's most memorable music is a treat to listen to day in and day out. I was one of those looking for music from the "Cousins" soundtrack. I'm so much happier to have found this CD with more great music than I could've bargained for. I'm very glad to have this in my collection!

Wow! What an exciting array of dance accompaniment! I've been looking for something like this for ages - clear-cut percussion with interesting developments within each long track (2mins or more) and the inclusion of challenging time signatures 5/4 9/8 etc. Would be great for a Graham or Cunningham techique class and also for teaching all dance/ballet students more about their relationship with music.

I'm probably not the normal "new age" listener in that I despise the very notion of "background music": I'm an active listener and I don't think of music as ambient "noise" to have on while I read/watch TV/play video games/play cards, etc. When I choose to listen to music, I listen to it. That means I don't want something that meanders into oblivion and tends to induce boredom or day-dreaming. I want something that inspires feelings in me, be they melancholy sighs, bubbly smiles, tearful grieving, or visceral anger (in the case of hard rock/metal or punk).

In the end, this means that I usually favour strongly melodic new age over music that employs a lot of "noodling" over washes of synths. Music as "texture" is not my thing.

Yes, It is appropriate to compare Murial to Chet Atkins, who was one of her teachers, as was classical teenage-prodigy Christopher Parkening. Murial Anderson is still the only woman ever to win the (Winfield) National fingerpicking championship, and is a huge supporter of music in the schools with her own foundation.

Perhaps you've never heard her before, or you're trying to get into guitar playing a little bit and aren't sure who you should begin your listening library with--Murial Anderson is a wonderful place to start your guitar music collection because she is a master of so many styles. As a horse-shoe ringer-spike. I mean all of these musicians, are well-accomplished artists and have performed for many-many fans. Yes, I was leary about that 3-star rating and Windham Hill's compilations are mostly masterpieces. It's a Great Deal and a Super Listen both magical and thunderous, delicate and sweeping and highly thought-provoking. This music sounds nice with a portable; but will really make your home stereo come alive. This music is 10 stars. All pieces are flawless,(personally)I like playing disk #2 first---Ave Maria is one of my favs. So don't delay. Buy this masterpiece today! It's great!
