Pretty boring stuff, except for the Springsteen track, which saves the day. Most of the artist featured on this album have concert albums that are far superior to the material found on this album.
If you believe in the cause, are looking at this album as a historical document, or dig Springsteen's version of the Ryder medley, buy this album. If not, save your money.

I have been a DTB fan for a couple of years now. I think this live CD capture the jam band feel they always have. I read all the 1 star reviews and was disappointed they dave the CD bad review because of the IMPORT price. Now I must say if your going to give DTB 1 star for their music, it was probably better you didn't get the CD because its not your type of music.
A great CD to buy, just dont pay the import price.

This CD is a 'must have' for every blues fan. Incredible guitar playing. Almost all of my favorite Johnny Winter tracks are included on this CD.

I still remember back in High School, when I bought the Fillmore concerts on vinyl.
I listened to them over and over. Now we have another recording of the Allman Brothers from pretty much the same time period.
I like to listen to different recordings of artists, and hear the different guitar solos. Being a guitar player myself I focus in on what the guitarist is doing.
Duane Allman is as good if not better than any blues guitarist who has ever walked on stage.
The beauty of these recordings is that they seem raw in comparison to the Fillmore concerts. In some ways I actually prefer these versions over the Fillmore concerts.
The sound is very good and even crisper. You can hear the guitars and other instruments clearer. ... Read More:

Not much new I can say about a classic, but I will say that it's very rare anymore to listen to a band and say to yourself, "Hey, these guys sound like they're having a real good time". In a world dominated by plastic sounding music(Plastic People! Oh, baby now you're such a draaaaaag! Sorry about that, I couldn't resist), it's so refreshing to listen to a group that doesn't sound like it's playing music simply because it's their job. Now while this was an attempt for Muddy to make a comeback, these guys sound like they love what they're doing so much that they couldn't care less if they sold one copy of the album, or even gave a hoot if they were being recorded at all! Muddy had a fantastic musical career long before this album, but in teaming ... Read More:

1972 was a banner year for what is now called Americana music, and its best and brightest purveyors were attached to Warner Brothers Records and their subsidiary Reprise. Between the two labels, they had a very cool stable of artists. Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, and James Taylor became mainstream successes fairly quickly. Others took longer to find fame and acclaim, but were no less noteworthy. Among these were 3 forward-thinking, backward-glancing master musicians who anticipated the best-selling "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" soundtrack by 28 years.
Consider: In 1972 Warner/Reprise released Ry Cooder's "Into The Purple Valley", John Fahey's "Of Rivers And Religion", and Van Dyke Parks' "Discover America". Fellow label-mate Randy Newman issued ... Read More:

Johnny Winter was signed to Columbia Records in 1968 and for the next decade or so sold a lot of records, beat a harrowing addiction to Heroin, and helped ressurect Muddy Waters' post-Chess career producing the blues giant's superb, final three albums. Sony has remastered Winter's eponymous debut, and issued a 'deluxe' edition of 1969's "Second Winter" (also issued on gold disc by Mobile Fidelity). "...And", Winter's third release, from 1970, somehow has fallen through the cracks. Fans already know that after the McCoys ('Hang On Sloopy', among other hits) broke up
Winter hired the group - most importantly guitarist/producer Rick Derringer - to form And. This album is harder rocking, the blues sublimated within a Stones-like soundscape. And Winter's singing ... Read More:

This album has some really great contemporary electic blues played with rock and roll attitude and fire. The second disk features the same musicians (Uncle John Turner and Tommy Shannon) with Johnny's brother Edgar live at Albert Hall England, the performance is just incindiary...

I was introduce to the Allman Brothers at an early age, as my parents are hippies. I'm not, though, however, I was lucky to have them as a musical influence on me. This album tops them all in my book. No group will ever be able to compose something like this ever again, and I think its this fact that is leads some people to not like it. The Allman Brothers really set the bar in the early 70's for future bands. They still tour today, but without Berry, Dickie, and most of all the greatest guitarist that ever lived, Duane Allman. Few bands pursue this form of music because no one will ever top the Allman Brothers. I believe people are just jealous and this causes them to not like the Allman Brothers. I don't really blame them. I play slide guitar and I know I'll never come close to ... Read More:
