I don't have all No Doubt albums yet, but so far, this is my favorite. It has everything that was good about No Doubt: ska, reggae, punk, funk, and pop. Sure, I don't hate No Doubt's new stuff, but it doesn't really hold a candle to this. I can't believe this only sold a few thousand copies upon its release. I don't get it. It was better than most other albums out that year.
I also can't believe the amount of people that don't like this album. It may be the recording quality or whatever, but I still don't get why people don't like it. It's at least a little bit better than most that came next, in my opinion.
Anyways, there's the end of my rant. My favorite song is probably Ache.

This was a great find - it takes me back to those angst filled teenage years. As a major Joy Division fan, I was thrilled to get this CD and get a feel for their evolution as a band. Get New Order - 316 if you want to hear an early New Order still sounding like Joy Division.

The dude that gave this CD 1 star is crazy!!! ...This is their 4th album and all of them are top notch...Sublime is my favorite band, but for modern day bands I put them up there with Stoopid, Pepper etc...There could've been a few more tracks on this album considering one is a skit, another cover song and 2 songs from previous albums, but the new stuff like Paper Chains, Wide Awake and Take a Ticket are silly!...Buy this CD asap, but get the others first so you can see the bands progression...my 2 cents

I was really, really looking forward to this album and while it is still good quality, it is just not on the same level as "Everything Goes Numb." I have to admit that I'm disappointed in this album, but I am still a true Streetlight fan and look forward to future works.

When I heard the first single on the air waves, I requested the heck out of it. But that was only because I wanted to hear Sublime to tell you the truth. Thats not what I got at all. When the CD came out I rushed to get it. Then I stuck it in and skipped over it alot. I like maybe 3 songs from it. If you have ever heard of Sublime's "Robbin' The Hood", it kinda sounds like that. A bunch of stuff with a few good but incomplete songs thrown in. The replacement singer is the guy who does the artwork on all the Sublime albums. His voice is off key a little sometimes. I only seem to like it when the mood is right and the sun is shining on a Summer day.

Cecil Bustamente Campbell - better known as Prince Buster - could be called the James Brown of ska and of ska's child, reggae. It was Buster's musical exuberance that almost single handedly formed the second ska revolution - the Tutone revolution in England in the late `70s.
This collection of songs captures some of Busters best work from the `60s. "Madness" (later adopted as the name of the English ska band) and "Al Capone" (later remade by The Specials) are rudeboy anthems in the same vein as the Wailer's "Simmer Down" and Desmond Dekker's "007 (Shanty Town)." Other rudeboy pleasers are the classic "Too Hot" and hilarious "Judge Dread" (both later fabulously redone by The Specials, and the latter name adopted by the immortal Judge ... Read More:

Long time fan of the band and I was surprised to find out a new album was cut. I enjoyed Dicky when he hosted the Mighty Morning Show on Indie 103.1 out here in Southern California but it wasn't the same without the rest of the band. Hearing this album restores my faith in the Ska movement because instead of putting out just anything, this is a great album! Favorite song... "Don't Worry Desmond Dekker". I am hoping for another live album with their new work to complement "Live from the Middle East" (hands down one of the best live albums ever!
Buy this album, call your stations to get more Bosstones on the radio. They deserve to be heard!

The Skatalites are one of the most fantastic ska bands ever, they practically started ska. The two discs contain the amazing feel of the Skatalites. Def recommend for anyone into old time ska :]

I was extremely disappointed in the last slackers album, "Peculiar." I thought the departure of Mark Lynn meant the end of the Slackers and the beginning of another typical ska band, but this album is a return to pure excellence. Ska is a difficult genre to stay fresh in, because there is only so much you can do with a horns + offbeat rhythms characterizing your music. However, the Slackers have never been a typical band and they are highly capable of being admired by non-ska enthusiasts because of the way the band infuses so many different genres. This album has not forgotten it's roots, however, the sound has definitely evolved from the early Slackers formula. There was something lacking in "Peculiar," but it has made a triumphant return to this album. ... Read More:

Before purchasing this album, I'd not heard Culture since I was in college. A buddy of mine used to spin a couple of their discs of which this, I now know, was one. I can do without the five bonus tracks which are basically remixes of selections from the primary track list that I'll probably never listen to again. But the core album itself is really slammin' from start to finish. Very solid, upbeat and still quite fresh sounding. The liner notes and photos in the booklet that comes with this 30-anniversary edition are enjoyable too. If you're a reggae fan, you won't be disappointed by this record.
