I received this tape and a Yani tape and neither of them work. I tried them in several places and they still did not work. I am extremely disappointed since I spend a lot at this site and have been happy in the past with books I have bought. This is my first time with CD's. I will send them back soon.

When this band came along, with their first big hit, WALKIN' ON THE SUN, I immediately noticed their being highly influenced by that 1960's band, ?(Question Mark) & The Mysterians of "96 TEARS" fame, circa 1966. The lead singer of SMASHMOUTH sounds eerily like the lead singer of that blast from the past band. Then, the follow up, CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF YOU, BABY was a hit, and an almost note-for-note remake of a track right off the "96 TEARS" album by that 60's band! Nobody's ever mentioned or noted this - am I the only one who noticed?!!! Yup, I have the ?(Question Mark)& The Mysterians album, which I bought at a vintage records shop a few years ago. SMASHMOUTH is a fun band, but, let's give influential credit where credit is overdue.

Great album. If you loved "...and out come the wolves" buy this CD, very similar sound. 'The Brothels' and 'Things to Come' make this worth buying alone.

Ska sucks, this "new" lame excuse for punk is just made to sell to idiots dumb enough to buy it (like my brother)basically everyone who says they like this is a poser. great job! ^_^

Listening to this album next to Pezcore, it sounds like two totally different bands, but that's not a bad thing. There's a reason why Less Than Jake put out another album. It's because they have finally found the perfect mix of ska and punk for a great album. None of the songs have that head-bang, sugar-high, beat someone up in a the pit feel anymore. Each member seems to have come to terms with their instruments perfectly, and all of the flaws in the past albums are gone leaving one flawless and entertaining album.
Although Anthem still remains my favorite album because of all of the history behind it, this album is a classic in the works. With LTJ still on tour playing these song and selling this album, GNV FLA could be the finale of their ... Read More:

The Specials may not have been the first band to combine the lopsided danceability and dreamy warmth of Jamaican music with the raw aggression of punk, but they did just about single-handedly define the look, sound, and feel of the second wave ska scene. They nailed the aesthetic, sporting very mod clothing and very cool porkpie hats. They also founded the key label: 2 Tone Records, created by organist Jerry Dammers, is the quintessential English ska punk record company. More importantly than that, they sounded great. Their music was infectious, ferocious, and fun, full of raucous joy, violent intelligence, and social outrage. Released in 1979, the group's self-titled debut isn't just a ska punk classic; it's one of the very best rock albums ever made.

There was a lot of good rock music in the '90s. Unfortunately, Sugar Ray does not qualify as such, despite the fact that they were blown to massive proportions and had loads of really big, really annoying hits. You remember them - "Fly," "When It's Over," "Someday," "Answer the Phone," "Every Morning," "Falls Apart," "Under the Sun" - lighthearted, bouncy pop songs with no real substance behind them (or, in the case of "Someday," a downbeat, contemplative ballad with no substance behind it). Now, everyone likes a good pop song, me included. But the genre they fall into is already overcrowded by bands that aren't really any good, and Sugar Ray falls somewhere in between Smash Mouth (excessively annoying, almost to the point where it seems intentional) and Third Eye Blind (decent, ... Personally, my favorite albums were the first three. Although I felt that this album was full of energy, it was different. It was much more fast paced, and movement. Either way, it was quite excellant, and it certainly is a unique sound from the previous three.
Top songs for me:
1) Lonely Moon
2) Won't be Afraid
3) So Many Nights
4) Wanted to write you a Love Song
5) The Darkness
6) Fishies/Til the ocean takes us all.

THE CAT EMPIRE from Melbourne began making music as a trio in late 1999 playing enthusiastically to crowds in the jazz clubs, festivals and bars in their local area. The band was the dream-child of front man Felix Riebl & included Ollie McGill on piano & Ryan Monro on double bass. From the very beginning they had a very unique & distinctive sound.... that, 'Cat Empire' sound!!
Back then the music was all instrumental and only a few extremely rare CD's of their sessions in Melbourne's 'Sound Lounge' (& later in Ollie's sisters bedroom) exist but are hard to acquire... (thankfully, I have them though) but by the following year they were joined by a young Harry J Angus on trumpet/vocals, a SUPERB drummer, Will Hull-Brown & on decks & percussion Jamshid Khadiwala. ...
