Like one of the other reviewers, I bought this album about six years ago, and even though I'm now something of a diehard metalhead, Don't Know How to Party still gets frequent plays in the cd player. This is where The Bosstones most effectively mixed Hardcore music and Ska (their most ska-core record). The tracks range from wondering love songs, tributes to the fans, anti religion rants to pure society hating anthems. Every member here contributes exceptionally, especially Albert and Barrett. The guitar playing is flawless, and this is also probably Barrett's best vocal performance.
When the 20th Century Masters collection thing came out, I thought to myself, "They should have just re-released Don't Know How to Party," especially ... Read More:

Ok, first off, I'm not a kid, but I don't have an account on here. This album is completely amazing. It may be simple, but It's great. Just listen to the samples. The songs have lots of energy and fury to them, and the lyrics although stupid, accually have some good meaning behind them. It's very easy to like, and by far one of the greatest ska/punk releases ever. The horns are very catchy, and the basslines good, and Brendan's voice couldn't have been any better. So go buy this now, I promise you won't be dissapointed.

If you're exploring ska, Five Iron Frenzy, or Christian music in general, buy this album. I garuntee you that you will enjoy this album immensely.
This is by far my favorite Five Iron Frenzy album. Light-hearted, upbeat, and yet superbly well written and played. They give off the vibe of a lets-just-scream-our-heads-off-and-have-fun punk band, but they are all extremely good musicians, and their talent shows in the quality of their music.

The year 2000 was a turning point for pop-punk. After reigniting and revolutionizing the sound in the mid-'90s, the genre's most famous band, Green Day, in Y2K released "Warning," a noted departure from the tried and true sound layed down on albums like "Dookie," "Insomniac," and the album's predecessor, "Nimrod." Though not without its strengths, "Warning" featured more mellow and relaxed arrangements that leaned increasingly toward alternative.
Just when it seemed that the release of this album might signal a death note for the up until then increasingly popular pop-punk genre, along came a new crop of young bands who were just kids in 1994 when Green Day released "Dookie," an album that forever changed their lives and inspired them to create ... I love this album. It was my introduction to the band and I still listen to it pretty frequently. The Bandits' previous album 'Halfway...' was much more straight ahead third-wave ska and has a few good songs on it but overall isn't as interesting as this album. The political/social consicousness that the lyrics display is backed up by passionate delivery and rocking instrumentation. Gak is still one of my favorite drummers. They move effortlessly between punk and third-wave ska while blending just a hint of pop song-writing without getting sloppy or sappy (except on "Anyone but you" which I really don't like). Their next album "The Resignation" is incredible. It follows the natural progression from poppy ska band to not quite definable awesomeness. If you've ... Read More:

Okay, it's March 2007. I am going to the House of Blues to see Anti-Flag. There's some opening band called "Big D and the Kids Table." Funny name, probably not very good.
Well we all know how that ended. On the fateful day that I heard these dudes for the first time they were possibly better than the headlining band at that show. Seriously, these guys impressed me, especially Steve their bassist. Most of the songs were very distinguishable and then I found out that they had a CD coming out soon, and the track listing led me to believe that most of the material they had played live was from that CD. So naturally, I had to get it.
The album overall, as the title claims, is hit or miss, they just happened to play the songs that "hit" when I saw ... Read More:

I'm nervous. I really am. I have to write a review for a band that is not only my favorite (never heard a bad song by them) but has also impacted me greatly despite the language barrier. To some, if you cannot understand the lyrics (which are ALL in spanish) than it's not worth your time. To me, it doesn't matter at all.
What is bad about this CD? Nothing. There are very few CD's I will give a perfect rating to no matter how much I love it. I have to literally find no problems for it to get 5/5. This album is a great example of perfect music. The album kicks off with El Gato Lopez (Lopez the Cat) which is a great ska song about a working "cat" who goes to ska shows to relieve the stress of being working class. It is inspiring and will have you saying Sigue siguelo ... Read More:
