I love this CD. It is probably my favorite to play in the car. If you like Ska you will love it. Even if you don't listen to ska but like up beat music you will more likely than not like it. I have had this CD for more than 10 years and I never get tired of it.

... "if dimension, fidelity, and artistry are more your bag, Live pretty much bites. --Sue VanHecke"
Sorry Sue, I can't agree with that. Saying the Bosstones lack artistry is almost laughable. The Tones showcase some of the most talented musicians I've come across in my time. Masterful bass playing, a tight brass section, excellent guitar work and frankly, Dicky Barrett's vocal's are individual, endearing and soulful.

This CD collection of the Ethiopians is very good, the lead singer is quite talented. The style is similar to Toots and the Maytals. Reggae with an uplifting message and sound. Trojan puts out good stuff and this CD shines.

I have to agree with the previous reviewer and rolling stones on this one. It's nearly impossible not to tap your feet and bounce around to wonderful tracks like "Never Not Alone" and "Punk". They also mix in some nice slower tracks like "Friends Again", which displays their wide range of talents and ability to create different moods. I'm not even sure how to classify "It's Weird" which is just plain one of the coolest songs ever made. This may not have been their most popular album but it's far and away their best. Any fan of English Beat should like and enjoy this album. The only weak track in my opinion is "Big Bed", but that's just weak in comparison to how great the rest of this album is. I saw these guys live in San Diego back in 1995 and they were awesome, ... Read More:

The Forces of Evil are a side-project of the well renouned Reel Big Fish and just like their lyrics the Forces of Evil lyrics are just that...Evil! But when i say that i don't mean it's a bad thing, i mean it in a very good way, very upbeat true to the style with their last song "Fight For Your Right To Skank" and their "Angry Anthem" puts it all together. if you are a Reel Big Fish fan this album is for you.
Release Date September 01, 2000
Maybe the greatest ska album ever: and you don't have to sacrifice your intellect. It's in turns fun, silly, irreverent, political, honest, raw, and the level of musicianship is very high (pun intended) with rich female vocals. A landmark. Get their next album: Celebrate the Bullet and also the other great Tutone band's releases Specials and More Specials

Given that reggae is an R&B subgenre, it isn't suprising that there have been countless covers of American soul songs by Jamaican artists. This one may feature the estimable Toots Hibbert but it is a plodding effort. The song selection is dubious and the production flat.
For the reggae fanatic, many excellent covers are found in the amazing Trojan Records box sets. For the more occasional listener, I suggest an album by the Blues Busters titled "Phillip and Lloyd," which can be gotten on Amazon. it may not have a star familiar to Americans or a Memphis session cooked up by some record exec, but it's got a lot more spunk and two standout singers. (The Blues Busters were popular in Jamaica, and Amazon also has other titles by the pair.)
Release Date March 19, 2002
This CD really does it for me! I didn't really know much about reggae other than my Bob Marley Legend CD. I saw Toots about 3 months ago and really liked him. I think this CD is great - it really does it for me. I like pretty much all of the songs and it just makes me feel good. I'd recommend it. The only thing I'm worried about is playing it too much and burning it out!
