Desire came out twelve days shy of a year after "Blood on the Tracks," but it wasn't a whole year without a new Dylan record, because The Basement Tapes came between them, though it was recorded something like eight years earlier. "Desire" is sort of new sound for Dylan as he is performing with the Rolling Thunder Review band and Scarlett Rivera's violin adds a haunting sound throughout.

"Hurricane" the lead off song marks kind of a return of Dylan to social commentary. Dylan did the song, because he was convinced of Mr. Carter's innocence. Bruce and the gang sound like they had a whale of a time making this album. It's great fun to listen to in the car.

My one criticism would be that Bruce tends to use a phony southern accent when he sings. Oh, and "Shenendoah," as others have pointed out, is the low point.

Otherwise--kick up your heels!

This album was released in '89, the year Milli Vanilli won the Grammy for best new artist...hmmm....this is excellent stuff...I have just about everything he's released and see him whenever he shows up in the Great Northwest.

Like many fans, I was awaiting the box set release of Ryan's records recorded between the records and was surprised to find just an EP. I was also worried when I saw the music's tie to October Road, having never seen the show I wondered how it may effect the music. The end result, however, is a great one. With several new recordings, a couple covers and reworkings of Ryan's original work, it is enough to tie both casual and hardcore fans over until the next full release. I especially enjoy the new versions of This Is It and If I Am A Stranger. The band is hitting a real stride and if you haven't been a long time fan this is the perfect place to start and wet your appetite for one of today's most prolific singer/songwriters.

I truly believe had this album not come after Self-Portrait, it would have been much more highly regarded. In fact, I was still surprised, and very disappointed, that it did not get the SACD remaster treatment, and such albums as Street Legal did. This is a little gem of an album. True, it does not have the lyrical complexity that graces most of Dylan's albums, but neither did Nashville Skyline, and this is eons better than that album. It is the most overlooked album in Dylan's ouvre, and still impresses today. Though Bob Johnstone is listed as producer, Al Kooper actually was, and does a great job, giving the songs a muscality rare in Dylan's work. An overlooked jem.

Wanted! The Outlaws

This CD has wonderful country songs by the 4 outlaws - Waylon, Willie, Jessi, and Tompall. Too bad country doesn't still sound this good. This CD is real country. "My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys", "T for Texas", "Put Another Log on the Fire" are my favorites.

Simply put this is Buffett's best album. "A Pirate Looks At Forty", "Presents To Send You", "Nautical Wheelers" and "Migration" are my favorites but everything on here is outstanding. I know people have to change over the years but like other reviewers have said Buffett's sound diverged from my tastes after Changes In Latitude Changes In Attitude.

A1A is a record for beer, cookouts, pickup trucks, having a good time.
