I like this collection of Bonnie's songs. She can hold her own against some of the best. Her blues oriented songs are so soulful and true to heart. She's an ideal songstress to listen to on a long road trip. Go Bonnie!!
Release Date November 07, 1995
I first bought this CD set sometime in '96 or '97. I expected to like two or three songs. However, there are no bad songs on either CD. I never touch the skip button when these CD's are in my player.
During a move I somehow lost my CD's. I like this CD set so much that I am purchasing it for the 2nd time.

This is a great album! I think it is easily George's second best album and maybe even his very best. It is hard to compare it to All Things Must Pass because it was a "classic" album of a different time period. ATMP is great, but I don't listen to it repeatedly as I do "Brainwashed". If you love George or The Beatles, you should already own this album (CD). George was great and he left a wonderful gift for everyone.

Some might find this recording archaic and dated. I could not disagree more. Personally, I think other words express it best--nostalgic, disillusioned, timeless.
I was a Buffalo Springfield fan during those incredible years, and because of where I lived, I found myself limited to what small record stores had to offer in the 60's. I did not have the chance to hear these songs until 1973.
The music reminds me of certain elements of Buffalo Springfield.
Combinations of keyboard and guitar achieve this on many of the recording's songs, but most importantly, the effect happens not because Neil is somehow imitating a sound like his former band, but it occurs because Neil artistically expresses key elements that were a part of that incredible ... By the mid 90's Neil Young had been discovered by a whole new generation of younger fans earning him the moniker of "the godfather of grunge". Thus it was only natural that he would record an album with a band who is arguably one of the best of the grunge movement, Pearl Jam. "Mirror Ball" is a collaborative effort between Young and Pearl Jam that unfortunately comes off as rather average. Pearl Jam vocalist Eddie Vedder is mostly absent (although does sing a bit of lead on "Peace And Love" and background vocals elsware) so this is mostly Young with the instrumentalists from the band. Although Pearl Jam are probably better musicians than Neil's normal backing band Crazy Horse the chemistry is not quite there. This is not a bad album, but it does seem rather rushed and not quite up to ... Read More:

O come on ! He's been given a thumbs up just because he's The Neil Young ? It's just simply boring and un-inspiring. Imagine the same exact score written/played by an unknown for a B-grade sci-fi flick, you'd think anyone cared ? No, right ? So do I. Period !
P.S - I had wanted to give a zero rating, but 1 is the minimum, hmmphh !

I've read the critic's talk about Neil Young's Stars-n-Bars calling it a thrown together commercial hodge-podge,and maybe they're right, but the bottom line is that it work's and this recording will stand the test of time as a Neil Young classic showing the amazing versatility of this great artist. The first half of the album leans toward the country side as in Hold Back The Tears,Hey Babe,Saddle Up The Palomino, with help from Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt. On the rock side this recording features,Like A Hurricane,Bite The Bullet and Homegrown.Neil Young's American Stars-n-Bars will alway's be played on my stereo until I wear it out.(by the way this cd is remastered, sounds excellent.)
Release Date March 29, 2005
This launched the midwestern live show star squarely onto the national stage, with two huge worldwide hits..the highly conventional "Hurts So Good" as well as the standout "Jack and Diane"; and while the first made him a superstar, the latter proved his terrific ability to weave a tale, a talent he has honed to an exceptional level over the years. This album is filled with catchy rock treasures, such as the minor hit "Hand To Hold On To", the aptly named "Thundering Hearts" and the anthemic "Close Enough". Taken on its own, this album could easily be dismissed as a Top 40 grab by Mellencamp; but in the context of his entire career, this was a watershed moment, a solid album that gave him the leeway to grow as an artist - and listeners worldwide are the beneficiaries.

Mary Fahl's voice gets better with time no matter what side of time she's on. I've been a fan since her arrival with the group "October Project." Her lyric s are thoughtful and her alto voice, hauntingly beautiful.
