This album, like all of Liz's albums, is just too utterly good for me to sit here and embark on some long-winded, cliche riddled review. Yawn! However, as with anything worth taking a gander, the music...the artistry of that music, will ultimately speak for itself.

Another beautiful album from Ani! This is her second album and last album which has just her and an acoustic guitar. The lyrics are amazing! The spoken word title track gives me chills, and so does "On Every Corner"...there are many brilliant political protest songs on here, some of her best ones in fact! There is such passion and honesty in her voice and I love it! I'd defineity recommend this or anything by Ani.

I agree with another member here. Crowded House are a lot of fun and highly enjoyable live. I have seen them up close and personal, years ago, in a small club. I also had the good fortune to seem them during the Woodface tour with Tim.

But this is in a whole different league...darker, more mature...and infinitely more interesting. Get the outstanding DVD 'Sessions at West 54th' for a great live performance of the major tunes from this disc.

"Our Shadows Will Remain" is up to the same excellent standards Joseph Arthur has set with "Come to Where I'm From"(my favorite) and Redemption's Son".

You can't go wrong with any of these three and if you like Joseph Arthur -you should go ahead and get them all. "Nuclear Daydream" and "Big City ..." are fine for a fan (which I am), but start with one of the three I suggest here if you are just being introduced to him.

The fact that this guy would probably be a hit with John Mayer fans is a blow to this guy, since John Mayer is easily one of the worst hacks making music (no, muzak) today. I was hinted to call this guy a slightly more interesting John Mayer with an acoustic guitar. Sure, it's not deep music, it won't start anything, but it's breezy, chill music (not muzak, thank god). It's definitely worth getting.

The sound of Jack Johnson is a good one, it will definitely relax you. It's a very chill album, but it's soothing and makes you feel good, than rather making you feel drowsy, bored, and wanting to rip your hair out. I love the song Caught a little sneeze. And I think the silly songs here are quite funny. It's easy to think that silly songs are bad or almost stupid, but not for me. It's more difficult to sing and play with correction a silly song that a good one. Ok, I know, it's just I guess and I'm sure that if you try to play in your piano or keyboard one of this silly songs and sing them, you will feel something near the ridicolous... And Tori doesn't sound ridicolous, just funny.

She says it right in her songs. That's why she talks to us in the way she does. It's strange, you should see my cd collection -it goes Deftones, Static-X, Tool, Coal Chamber, Marilyn Manson, Poe, Rob Zombie, Mudvayne, etc. etc. I don't normally go for this particular type of music but Annie Danielewski can be suducting in more ways than one. Her lyrics lay down how a song can spiral deep inside the psyche. "you must of had your moments... inside the sun" - "cause that day, in my life, I dreamt tomorrow had a prettier face. I dreamt tomorrow we'd have better things to say". Her voice will simmer nerves to the point that you'll keep coming back for more. It's hypnotic, it's beautiful, it's Poe. First of all, i do not think this sounds like a return to ani's her and her guitar albums. But I do think this is possibly one of my favorite of her albums, especially when i am in that mood, it is kind of a low key album.
i really love animal...it proves that all the songs are not about a sad part of her life.
it is a different album, of course, but after a couple listens, i loved it!!
