I was so happy to hear of a new project from Ram Dass, so I ordered an early copy. So glad I did...I love listening to it while doing yoga, or just hanging out and dancing around with my little son.

Hearing the wisdom of Ram Dass' spoken words reminds me of his simple teachings, without feeling like I'm listening to a self help book on tape! I'm intrigued enough to want to learn more about his teachings, and have been checking it out at ramdass.org

I have not tried meditation for weight loss before, so this is my first attempt using meditation with a guided CD. I find the CD to be very helpful. I get anxious when i'm confronted with food, which often sabotages me more than anything else. This CD helps me relax, by listening to it before i'm confronted with a lot of food. The one line sayings in each meditation stick in my brain, and I definitely find that I am more mindful of what I eat. It helps me feel more in control. Meditations are easy to listen to, and most are relatively short for someone who is busy. Even the 6 minute meditation is very helpful, and even the busiest of people should be able to fit it in. It was very relaxing and I come out of it feeling refreshed.

I was having one of those problems that caused me to wake up at 4:00 in the morning in total misery. I couldn't solve the problem and I couldn't go back to sleep...in desperation I put this CD on and actually found myself starting to feel a little happy as the music progressed, and ended up going to sleep and feeling peaceful. There's something about this CD that's very special.

The urban groove chants do have a certain cool feel to them and after giving them a few listens, I've grown to really like them for mood music or even freestyle dance. The chants that are set to either the ambient music or are alone are very beautiful (the chanter has a gorgeous, deeply spiritual voice and intones well) and can be used to chant along with or to simply listen as one enters a deep meditation. I really love the writings of Lama Surya Das (nee Jeffery Miller) who writes about Tibetan Buddhism for a mostly Western audience and presents it well and without unneeded dogma (Tibetan purists probably are horrified at his approach, but I think the last thing Westerners who are curious about Buddhism need when they're exploring this faith is ... This CD has worked well for me in many ways. I was looking for a way to relax at the end of the day and the guided meditations and music provided a welcome relief. Especially nice is the progressive relaxation process: "Total Body Relaxation" which always results in my falling into a deep sleep.

The Mini Relaxation Break is good during the day for a quick refreshing pause to activity.

I highly recommend this CD, it lives up to the description.

Ambient Music for Sleep

I bought this cd because after a full 10 hour day of work as a customer service representative my mind is gone. I feel so stressed after the day is over and I need something to help me unwind. When I am ready to go to sleep I pop this cd into my surround sound system and let it play. As you listen it is like drifting into an angelic cloud of beauty. I fall alseep everytime. I know some people have complained about the type of sounds on it but to be fair it is called Ambient music. If you are not familiar to this type of music. Ambient is very subtle sounds with minimalistic changes in chords. It is meant as background music and is not very melodic. Simple Abundance: Music of Comfort and Joy

This cd is truly inspiring. When I listen to it, I feel very elevated in spirit. I have bought one for all of my sisters, my mom and a few others. Even my 16 year old niece listened to it and said she loved it. The music is relaxing at times and joyfully exuberant at others and the vocalist's voice is transporting. She is so gifted. I wish more artists such as these were appreciated as much as some of the so called artists publicized today which are more hype than talent. I like the life messages that Ms. Ban Breathnach relates and they come through skillfully in the lyrics.
