This woman is a poet of growing power, a singer of rare expressiveness, backed by a band that can find its way from a country slide to acid distortion in a few bars. Delicious reverb on some of the tracks, and I cannot resist a quote from one of her many beautifully broken-hearted songs: "I wanna see the ocean bend the edges of the sun..." Gorgeous! I have the 2004 Australasian Tour Version of this Album. Raw language here and there, and rightly so. I'm a guy, but this woman's heart speaks to me. I came across this by accident while searching for another band. Twenty nine tracks, and at least 27 are brilliant. Everyone in my family loves this album. What a lineup of stars! (and NO kid rock, no rappers!) Tastefully Done!

There are several songs on this CD that are great including "A Woman ..." I first heard it at a Southern Miss baseball game and decided I wanted it. More songs like this one in another CD would be appreciated! If you like southern music this is the CD to get!

Started watching him on Sesame Street and then The Disney Channel, and my daughter was really into him. So we listened to his music, and went to one of his concerts (awesome!). The music is true, clean, and no "Barney-Wiggle" annoyances. Introduces the kids to various instruments Guitars, Drums, Accordions, etc.

The songs contain a very catchy beat for adults as well, and Father Goose takes nursery rhymes to a whole new level.

Dan Zanes offers a musical taste for all genres.

When it comes to the CCR sound I have all of it and without a doubt this is the best of the bunch. I have loved this CD from the begining. I did not have to listen to it over and over and convence myself the songs were good. I enjoyed the whole thing from start to finish and now 10 years later and after hearing Revival I still think it is by far his best work. Depth and maturity in the songs and vocalls and at the same time that unmistakable CCR sound on every song. If this would have come out in 68 it would have been the biggest seller ever.

this was the first cd from steve earle and it was good for the time when it came out. it has a lot of good songs all of which were singles off the album and some that were not singles. if you like rockin country with a twist of mellow this is the album for you.

I caught The Band of Heathens by chance at the Austin Chronicle Hot Sauce Festival last Sunday. What a great live band. I snatched up this, their first studio CD, right away. These guys are the real deal. Their sound may not be original or unique, but it's a great sound, and they nail it. The musicianship is excellent, they've got great songwriting chops, and it's music that makes you want to get up and move. Or crack a few beers and kick back.

I think the Amazon review comparing them to the Eagles is totally wide of the mark. This stuff is more in the vein of blues/roots/country rock/Southern Fried.
