Every few months, I make out a Top 15 "Desert Island" list of my favorite albums. There are a few who always make the top 10 and this BoDeans release is one of them.
Catchy melodies, great lyrics...with not a dull song in the bunch (you know the kind--you skip it on the CD player or leaving it off when you download the album on to your computer.
You can't go wrong with this terrific CD. The Strangest Kind is one of my all-time favorite songs!

This is one of my favorite albums from all time. I haven't thought about it for a while, but something recently clicked on how I really dug this work. I was in high school at the time, and I used to play the songs on an old boom box at work. One of the older gentlemen was amazed that a young person was listening to such old music (the album was made in 1976, but all the songs are quite old), and he asked why. I said "I just like it. That's enough".
It is Ry's best album, and it's really a collection of beautiful, timeless American folk songs. There really isn't a bad one in the whole batch. I really like the songs Always Life Him Up and He'll Have to Go. They are beautifully rendered. But the best ones have to be the opener ... Read More:

Despite the written description of this as a compilation cd including both "Fervor" and "Lost & Found"..... It is only the "Lost & Found" album, as shown in the photo of the CD...
The track listings are also way off, as the first track is actually "Last Time Around." ALL TRACKS LISTED AHEAD OF THAT ONE ARE NOT ON THIS DISC!
The "Fervor"/ "Lost & Found" compilialation is out of print, but the re-issue of "Lost & Found" is available.... That is what you get if you order this....
It may still be worth the price to get "Lost & Found", as it has been out of print a while, but you will not get "Fervor."

I can't tell ya how many times through I listened to this one on vinyl only to scratch the record up and play the cassette over and over!! How cool is this to have it on CD. Long before his work with Blackhawk, Mr Paul was putting out some of the best Pure Country Rock out there. Outlaws fans you know this ones a must but any fan of pure straight forward ole fashioned southern rock this ones a gem. From the opening cut So Long to the chilling melodic sounds of Grey Ghost (Pauls tribute to Skynard and the loss of good friends) this one picks up right where the Outlaws Hurry Sundown ended and just keeps rolling through each Track! If your a Southern Rock fan you gotta get this one and has always been in my Top 5 when it comes to flat out good times. A MUST ... Read More:

This is an excellent career overview of an artist who dances to his own drummer. If you like something different from what you hear most of the time from artists that have a loose association with Nashville, this is music you will enjoy for a lifetime. The (*) is for the fact that Delbert released a couple of albums to attempt to reach a wider audience and if you are so inclined you should also purchase "Never Been Rocked Enough" to fully appreciate both sides of Delbert with no overlap. Very enjoyable listening all around.

I just listened to this today for the first time in a few years; I'd forgotten how great an album it is.
I've been a follower of Steve Earle's career since his first New York City shows, at the old Lone Star, in the mid-eighties. Saw him again as the opening act for Bob Dylan, and again at a rally outside the Republican convention in 2004. I always try to catch his rare TV appearances. I'm a fan of his radio show. I have all the albums, and they're all exceptional. It's like being asked to pick your favorite child, but for me, "Trancendental Blues" is his greatest achievement. At about the point this afternoon when "I Don't Want To Lose You Yet" faded into "Halo 'Round the Moon", I was reminded again of this simple fact: If anyone has made a better ... Read More:

Rock `n' roll albums have become a sadly scarce commodity. Sure, there's indie rock, punk rock, modern rock and all manner of hyphenated descendants, but few artists still make rock music with roots that reach through all of the layers of decades past. The "'n' roll" has been lost in the translation. Luckily, New York-bred Willie Nile is one such artist, born just in time for early exposure to Presley, Holly and Domino, steeped in the Greenwich Village folk revival and reignited by the `70s punk explosion. His recording career came of age in the early '80s with a pair of albums for Arista, was derailed by legal setbacks with Geffen for the second-half of the decade, and restarted in 1991 with "Places I Have Never Been" on Columbia. Nile attracted A-list fans during ... Read More:

It was OK, but it's missing some songs. I was shocked when I didn't see "Good Work" and "Dreams". Also, there are too many live tracks. I do like, however, how they have some rare photos and a bio, but the track listing is dissapointing. If you're new to the Bodeans, I'd buy Thick as Theives.

This is really an amazing album.
It was recommended to me. I didn't know Todd Snider before listening to it. It blew me away. It reminded me of the folk songs I used to listen to when I was a kid, but updated for the modern times.
The funny songs are funny. The serious songs are touching. (They make me wonder what sort of life Todd Snider has lived.) Yes, one or two duds (D.B. Cooper, Easy Money), but with so many great songs, it still deserves 5 stars, especially because...
The patter between songs is what really turns this into a great live album. This is the kind of thing you will not get on studio albums, or even on most live albums. Todd Snider is a real entertainer, and his introductions to the songs are the highlights of ... Read More:

its a real sound. nowadays its getting harder and harder to find the authentic sound, raw, the real stuff, and this is it. Its at a different level than the mainstream stuff. Musically inspiring, relaxing. Chris was a great talent, who always kept it alive. thanks Chris, the blues is a great sound, is a great feeling.
