Don't listen to the negative reviews of this cd it is one of the best and liveliest albums i've ever heard save for one or two songs. People just don't enjoy it because they're probably just the original fans of his early more simple music. The quality of Diamonds sounds like a pop album and it's great. The album just Hits its so diverse and has everything from Reggae to Jam Rock to Funk,Heavy Blues, an Italian love song with an accordion, to Spiritual songs inspired by World Music. I love all his stuff especially his newest cd Lifeline but this is one of my favorites.

Like a lot of people, I've been hearing VH on the radio for...well for a really long time. Unlike a lot of people, I've only starting buying albums in the last couple of years, and every VH I get consistently becomes a regular spinner on my player. I've got almost all the albums with DLR (minus DIver Down) and am now dipping into Van Hagar.
I got 5150 about two weeks ago and can't stop spinning it. I'm finding that Van Halen was certainly NOT THE WORSE for deciding to work with the HUGE TALENT of Sammy Hagar (and vice-versa) after parting with legendary front man David Lee Roth. I just ordered OU whatever, 812 (oh, I get it now) because I LOVE 5150 and I listened to the song clips for that, too, and they sound great, both songs I recognized and ones ... Read More:

The first song Purple Haze was the same arrangement Jimi Hendrix did when I saw him in 1967. What an incredible compilation. Exceptional for any Jimi Hendrix collector!

First bought this album early 70's when first release on cassette, then had my car stolen and lost forever....now why I decide to buy again..maybe living in Spain and chillin I dont know but WHAT A CLASS ALBUM..its over 30 years old but absolutely magnificent...we've all heard the usual quality songs from Carlos but all these tracks aren't on his "best of" which makes it even better for me.....jazz blues awesome licks...truly memorable.....

"Fair Warning" is kind of the black sheep album in the Van Halen catalogue. Other than "Unchained" the album did not receive a lot of airplay (at least compared to the band's other Roth era discs) and is probably the least commercial of their late 70's early 80's works. The band took some chances on this one which for me is a good thing. This is also probably the least party / fun oriented album of the Roth years. There was tension within the band by this point and it shows. There are no acoustic guitars to be found here either as the majority of the album is hard and heavy. The first use of keyboards by Eddie can be found here on "Sunday Afternoon In The Park". These would become more and more a part of the Van Halen sound on later albums. The album really ... Ok,for the record this Rory Gallagher Album was titled Irish Tour '74 on it's initial release way back 34 years ago. A Live recording from his Irish Tour in 1974,the venues were Cork City Hall,Dublin and Belfast.I have in my possession the double vinyl on Polydor records which I bought way back in 1974 when I was merely a 14 year old kid(that makes me 45 now for all you matameticians out there,ha,ha). In fact when this album was first released on cd it's title remained Irish Tour but they dropped the year '74 and it came in a double cd format with the thicker box and much stronger than the present ones.It was released on intercord,Capo Records, but there is a track called Just A Little Bit which is not included on this new updated version. It had the exact same tracks as ... Shortly after Surfing with the Alien took off in early 1988, I heard Satriani say that the time was ripe for instrumental music, which seems to find popular acceptance every 20 years or so. Looking back now it's easy to see he was right: Jazz-pop groups like Spyro Gyra, the Yellowjackets, Special EFX, and Fattburger sold more records than ever before; work by instrumentalists Jean-Luc Ponty and Andreas Vollenweider (inventors of the electric violin and harp, respectively) was heard next to work by jazz players like Pat Metheny and Joe Beck; and rock artists such as Steve Via, Eric Johnson, Neal Schon, and Stevie Ray Vaughan included incredible instrumental tracks on their current LPs. (It's a shame that a lot of the instrumental music from this period is now heard only ... Read More:

This was a perfect walk on memory lane! I'd almost forgotten how much I loved Robin Trower's silvery, ethereal guitar and James Dewar's golden-throated, soulful voice. Day of the Eagle has many of the iconic Trower songs, and I listened to it several times, then loaded it on my mp3 player for any time I need a "fix". No other guitar player today has the same sound; Robin Trower is truly an original. A must-have for all Trower fans and those who love guitar legends.

I continue to listen to this album often. Every song is good and has its own atmospheric presence. I often travel to the high sierra nevada's and this album doesnt leave my cd player. I highly recommend it. Composed beautifully and sound quality is great.
