."Jimmi Hendrix, baby believe me, set the world on fire!"
In Eric Burdon's great song Monterey, about the Monterey Pop festival, is this prophetic line about the great one, and it turned out to be so true.
In his brief solo career,(he was once guitar player for the Isley Brothers for a time) Hendrix went from the opening act for an infamous Monkees concert, to one of the most influential musicians of rock music. I can still remember the first time I heard this album as a kid, and still have the songs burnt into my brain after all these years.
So here's the deal,
This CD is a great commuting album, or a good introduction to youngsters about how there is much better music to be had than what ... Read More:

BEST ZEPPELIN ALBUM! THIS IS A SAMPLER PLATE OF EVERYTHING LED ZEPPELIN DID WELL; HARD ROCK, BLUES, ACOUSTIC, BALLADS. IF I COULD ONLY HAVE ONE ZEPPELIN ALBUM, THIS WOULD BE THE ONE! ROCK ON!
Release Date October 14, 1997
The first time I heard this record back in 1971 when it was first released
my ears were opened. I was into the blues and was blown away with the duel lead guitars that Dickie Betts and Duane Allman played so well.
When I look back and evaluate who the great guitar players in Rock history are I have to include Duanne Allman among the very best.
It is as Eric Clapton once said "We were coming at the same thing from a different direction, I was bending strings and Duanne was playing slide.
Duanne Allman to this day is still possibly the best slide player I have ever heard. Ironically Derek Trucks is probably the best I have heard recently, ironically both from the Allman Brothers.
This Album is an abbreviated version of the classic ... Read More:

I don't know if it was the great service or the fact this CD brings back such memories....I am thoroughly enjoying it! Thanks for the very easy shopping experience!

Well, this first album is of course an all-time classic, as it should be. As has been said before, the Van Halen brothers are the real deal. True classical musicians who also know how to rock! "Bill and Ted"s Beethoven would be proud! Both of them are classical pianists, which is ironic, since Eddie's known as a guitarist, and Alex as a drummer. Yet I've read where Ed actually claims to be primarily a pianist, not so much a guitarist!
Yet this is not their best album. It's more of a warm-up for what's to come. Musically, that title may belong to either 5150 or OU812. Or the two together could be considered their high-point musically, even vocally.
The editorial reviewer above claims that after 1984 they went into their lean years. ... Read More:

I find this Zep album to be a slight detour from the previous four albums.
Oh don't worry about it straying too far from the main theam of Led Zepplin. It dose keep close to the path although songs like Dyer Maker and The Crung may have you scratching your head. Why Robert Plant decided to write a ragae love soug,I just can't for the life of me figure out where his brain want. The album makes up for it's mushiness in songs like The Ocean(definaly a good sign of things to come in future albums) Probibly my most favorite song on the album aside from The Song Remains the Same is Dancing Days. This little gem has a pecular quality about it that can somehow get into your dreams despite it's weak theam. Generally I find Houses of the Holley to be nice little rest stop between ... Read More:

I thoroughly enjoyed the CD. However, someone got hold of my credit card info & charged over $600.00 on Amazon.com. Fortunately, my credit card company noticed the charges, informed me & put a block on any subsequent charges. Needless to say, I'm a little "gun-shy" after the experience. I was able to recoup the bogus charges but I had to create a new account, obtain a new credit card, etc. Any suggestions?

The band had barely finished recording their debut when they started working on the second album Axis: Bold As Love. Released in 1967, this is a solid effort all the way through.
Jimi Hendrix is featured on guitar and vocals, Noel Redding plays bass and sings on one song, and there's Mitch Mitchell on drums and some background vocals. Production duties, like the first album, were handled by Chas Chandler for the thirteen songs included.
Throughout the recording there's an excellent mix of funk, soul, pop, jazz, psychedelic rock, early hard rock, and even some avant-garde.
The album starts in a very unusual way indeed so let me give a detailed description of this song called "EXP" which is by far, one of Jimi's most avant-garde inspired songs he ever did!

I don't agree with the "expert" reviews posted. I almost didn't buy the album because of them, but then decided I cannot possibly go wrong. If you like Satriani's fluid sound you will not be disappointed. The more I listen to it the more I love it - I like all songs, not just 1-4, or the last two. Satriani at his best. But, heh, I'm not an expert...

This is my first Paul Gilbert cd, so I didn't know what to expect before I bought it. Based on the reviews here, I bought it sound unheard. Overall, I am not disappointed. Mr. Gilbert is an incredible technician and a generally superior song writer. If you like Marty Friedman, Satriani, Vai, Eric Johnson, Vinnie Moore, Eddie Van Halen, Rush, Jeff Beck, Joey Tafolla, and George Lynch, you'll like this CD because it has shades of them all. Which makes this a unique CD among instrumental guitar rock/shred albums. Lots of rock musical influences seem to have been put on display here--almost as if Gilbert were paying tribute--and blended in an original, highly skillful way. That feature is also my only real criticism of this CD (tho it's a small one): I am left with an unsure sense of Mr. Gilbert's own melodic ... Read More:
