First, let's be clear... This is blues album, you won't find any Secret Place, Little Bit O Sympathy, Bridge of Sighs, or Hannah here, just the Blues. This album was previously released with Robin singing all the lead vocals (and doing a rather good job overall)as "Someday Blues", but there is no question that Davey Pattison is a better singer. All the guitar and drum parts are exactly the same on both albums only the vocal has been changed. And it's still a pretty good blues album, with a couple good original blues, and some good covers. Robin still gets is some great licks and this material makes a nice addition to his live shows. But it is the Blues, and nothing but the blues, so help me God.

As reviewer Patrick Early clearly stated, this talent is possibly the greatest axe-grinder I've ever heard, and I've heard live most of the greats of the 60's, 70's and 80's. He was all the things stated in previous reviews and the excellent book about his life, Unfinished Business The Life & Times Of Danny Gatton. by Ralph Heibutzki. When you watch the videos on youtube, even the worst quality ones, his playing shines through, brilliantly. The thing about Danny Gatton's untouchable playing was just that. He was so good at whatever genre he played in, few would agree to get on stage with him. He didn't try to show them up, or even compete. He was just so far ahead of them.
Now, you might say that there are other seminal players, ... Read More:

As you'd expect from the guitarists from King Crimson and The Police, "I Advance Masked" sounds like a collison of instrumentals that both bands recorded (particularly the 80's version of King Crimson with Adrian Belew, Tony Levin and Bill Brufford aiding and abetting Fripp). Released in 1982, there are elements of Fripp and Summer's approach with their popular bands sprinkled throughout the music.
The polyrhythmic structured style of playing that Summers used in The Police provides a perfect backdrop for Fripp's rapid fire deliver. The result is an album heavy on atmospheric guitar textures. There's plenty of melodic material as well such as the beautiful and evocative "Girl on a Swing" and "Lakeland". The slightly off center, askew funhouse melodies ... Read More:

I bought this on a whim after purchasing the excellent Faces box set. What can I say except that this is an excellent album! I remember seeing this on vinyl in my roommate's Stones collection and never bothered to listen to it....what a mistake! All of the songs could have easily been on any 1970's Stones album and reveal what a great talent Ron Wood is. A+++

A fun album from Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble, though probably not quite his best. But it is probably his most straight forward effort, with a lot of medium paced, rockin' blues. Not too heavy. Not to hard. Just cool.
"Ain't Gone 'n' Give Up on Love" is an exception to this, with its wailing guitar work that makes it an album highlight. And "Life Without You" is a great track to close out the album...soulful, with some great melodies and a nice guitar fade out.
Not his best album...but a good listen, nonetheless!
Album sounds great, so high marks for the remastering.
I can't imagine a fan of rock n' roll or the blues who doesn't like "Little Wing." Whether it's the original or covered in tribute, the song ... Read More:

There are so many customer reviews reviewing this CD but none of them list the musicians. I think knowing the musicians BEFORE buying the CD gives the buyer more information that he/she would would like to know. So the musicians are for this CD, Eric Clapton with on #1 Gary Brooker (keys, vocals); Rich Cotile (synth); Laurence Cotile (bass); Henry Spinnetti (drums); all other tracks, Greg Phillinganes (keys, vocals); Nathan East (bass); Phil Collins (drums, vocals, percussion); Michael Brecker, Jon Faddis, Randy Brecker, Dave Bargerone (horns); Katie Kissoon, Tessa Niles, Magic Moreno, Tina Turner (vocals); Rich Feldman (keys). Enjoy this disc!

This is by far my favorite Van Halen album to date. I can't say that I particulaly dislike any of the songs on this CD, and Balance has produced just as many favorites for me as all of VH's earlier ones combined, as well as my favorite VH performance, "Baluchitherium". Eddie Van Halen is in high gear all throughout this album, and even a casual Van Halen fan should be satisfied with his (as always) killer guitar solos; Sammy Hagar is as good as ever, although I'm sure that a lot of people won't care for the nonsense in "Big Fat Money",---regardless, I still love the song. "Can't Stop Lovin' You", "Amsterdam", "Big Fat Money", "Baluchitherium", and "Take Me Back (Deja Vu)" are all great songs and immediately found a place on my mp3 player; this album isn't perfect, but it sounds ... The band Mr. Big is full of some very talented musicians. Paul Gilbert of Racer X fame is one of the greatest (and fastest) guitar players of all time. Billy Sheehan, is considered the greatest bass player ever. The vocalist, Eric Martin, is a huge rock star in Japan. This album is full of 80s rock with amazing solos, cathcy lyrics, and power drills. Fans of Firehouse and Extreme will enjoy this excellent album.

Clapton has said of The Band's "Music from Big Pink" that it "changed my life." "No Reason to Cry" may not be Clapton at his best, but if you like The Band (as I do), then you'll probably enjoy this compact disc.
Many of the songs sound like they could be from The Band, except for Clapton's voice. Robbie Robertson, Rick Danko and Richard Manuel play backup for Clapton, and members of The Band wrote two of the tracks: "Beautiful Thing" and "All Our Past Times." Danko shares lead vocals with Clapton on "All Our Past Times."
There are two outstanding tracks on this cd: "Hello Old Friend" and "Black Summer Rain." "Black Summer Rain" evokes The Band's "It Makes No Difference" both in sound and lyrics ("...and the sun don't shine anymore, and the rain falls down on my door..."). ... Read More:
