I love all of Joe's stuff. The Boy can just flat out play that thing. He shreds for sure but his compositions are first rate. It's always about the song. I've always found that the music evokes the title of the song. Joe is a musical genious. You can't go wrong with any of his stuff in my opinion.

Okay, let me begin by saying that I'm not just here to bash Yngwie, I actually bought this CD, and I am here to hopefully save people from wasting their money on this soulless tripe because I was misled by some people on the internet who claimed he was good, and even, in some cases, A FREAKIN' GUITAR GOD! Lemme tell ya, he is faaaaaar from that. He plays the same speedy hammer-ons and pull-offs over and over again.

When I first heard this album, the slow, majestic opening notes of "Black Star" had me entranced, but then he sped up and never slowed down until the closer, aptly titled "Farewell," which sounds just like the slow opening of "Black Star." Oh My God... the cd is excellent. Eric Clapton is with out a doubt the best guitarist of all time. this cd, which takes you back- let me tell you I thought I was sitting in the audience smoking weed - shows how absolutely wonderful he is, and how we miss that style of rock, GET THIS CD- it's great.
You won't be disappointed. I also bought his new autobiography, but I can't stop playing the CD. Side 2, in the late 70's,the original Layla, etc., great. I can't say that enough- GREAT.
I saw Eric in the 70's -live- and I cannot forget it- the best concert of all times, and I have seen everybody.

This is a hard product to find in any store, but if you do find dreams in a store you are one lucky SOB. Buying dreams was money well spent, not only do you get great best of and as well as songs from there earlier recordings you get a booklet of all the history on the allman brothers. I would definitely say if your a allman brothers fan this is one for the collection.

I continue to listen to this album often. Every song is good and has its own atmospheric presence. I often travel to the high sierra nevada's and this album doesnt leave my cd player. I highly recommend it. Composed beautifully and sound quality is great.

I worship Hendrix, Beck, Page, Metheny, Holdsworth, Vaughan, Howe, you name 'em, I've got 'em. But over 30 years later I'm still amazed at what Mr. DiMeola does on this MASTERPIECE. I HATE awards and awards shows and polls but if I HAD TO CHOOSE(gun to my head) I would pick Al as the greatest ever and present Elegant Gypsy as exhibit # 1.

There are reviews here on Amazon that say something to the effect of, "This isn't a guitar album, it's a movie soundtrack," and "Buy a movie score, it's the same thing." And you know what? They're right. This is a cinematic soundtrack - a great one at that.

The best works of John Williams and other master film composers set the mood and enhance the emotion of the scene when they're playing in the background, and bring back memories of the scene when you hear them outside the theater. When I hear the Imperial March from "The Empire Strikes Back", it doesn't matter where I am, I expect a shadow to fall over me as a very large Star Destroyer moves by overhead.

It's bad enough to have the poorly chosen actors trying to sing but to have insanely bad performances from the likes of Eric Clapton and Pete Townshend is unacceptable. What were they trying to do ? Dumb down to Jack Nicolson's singing ? At least Roger Daltrey sings the best of his career here. Really, he is the only reason to see the movie or listen to this tripe. Why and how did Pete manage to mangle 'Amazing Journey' and 'Sparks' so horribly ? And Clapton must have been going through withdrawals while singing 'Eyesight To the Blind.' Oh yeah - Elton does a great job. But skip this until the very end of your Who related purchases. Please.

The band Mr. Big is full of some very talented musicians. Paul Gilbert of Racer X fame is one of the greatest (and fastest) guitar players of all time. Billy Sheehan, is considered the greatest bass player ever. The vocalist, Eric Martin, is a huge rock star in Japan. This album is full of 80s rock with amazing solos, cathcy lyrics, and power drills. Fans of Firehouse and Extreme will enjoy this excellent album.
