I want to thank the folks who have posted reviews on this album because they were the ones who led me to buy it, renew my interest in Joe Satriani and made the last few days that I have spent listening to it a lot of fun.

That said, I believe that Satriani is not for everyone. I say this because I think that you not only have to play guitar but made some attempt to compose music on the guitar in order to fully appreciate why Satriani is so talented. I think this is the reason why his music remains inaccessible to a lot of people. They just don't get what the big deal is.

There aren't enough superlatives to describe this performance. So I won't even try. I will say that my entire perception of "guitar" was forever changed the first time I heard this album. Not only because of the effortless 200 mph runs but moreso because thee guys can do this while paying attention to and complementing eachother's playing.

Friday Night in San Francisco is a beautiful recording with plenty of raw emotion, despite what some other reviewers have said. Once you have removed your jaw from the floor and pay attention to the phrasing, song structure, sheer improvisation, and interplay of three geniuses in their prime, you will add this to your desert island list.

I admit that I originally bought this cd for the song"TROUBLE" After jumping through the other tracks I always would return to the fore mentioned song.
It took me a while but I finally dared to really listen to the other songs.
(having the lyrics available really helps)I've got to say this is a really totally enjoyable album.I've gotten to appreciate Lindsey's versatile musical
ability all the while showing his amazing (occasionally dry) sense of humor.
This is a really fun album with a sometimes serious underlying message.

Have this album as a kid and I loved it. Bought it again on CD because this Nugent work is fantastic. Great White Buffalo and StrangleHold are worth the album alone. Nugent shows that he has alot of talent and can really rip the guitar. This album is raw, heavy and quality! A MUST GET!!

First of all , the saddest thing is that Tommy is no longer with us...He was just coming into his own when he died. I saw him live on Oct.11,1976 in Sioux City,Iowa ,his hometown and my birthplace also. The onstage chemistry between him and his band was magic,especially his sax player Norma Jean Bell was especially beautiful!!! Now about this album........ It is well put together, well recorded, and should be considered a classic. Every song is great. He was a master of many styles of music. The first song BUSTIN OUT FOR ROSY is sort of a rock/jazz fusion.#2 song SWEET BURGUNDY is a sweet song of remembrence& sweet memories. #3 song POAST TOASTEE is self explanatory though quite ironic ,considering the way he died.It's rocker too!!!
