This doesn't strike me as a "Greatest Hits" exactly, but is a good studio collection for a great sale price. All in all, it has a nice mellow quality about it, but if you're looking for something with more "adrenaline", go for the live recordings of the "Nine Tonight" cd.

Like all musical genres, rock has become somewhat tired and originality is often hard to find. At most, an artist sounds like a dozen other artists, and the songs on the album tend to sound alike, with perhaps one song different enough to be released as a single and then overplayed on the radio. Daughtry's album is a step above the rest, because despite a characteristic "rock voice," there is enough musical and lyrical variation on the album to keep you interested, and somehow even the 7 singles from the album are hard to overplay.

I heard Daughtry's "It's Not Over" on the 2008 Grammy nominees album, and was impressed by the soaring yet raw power of his voice, backed by heavy percussion and emotional lyrics. After hearing all of ... Read More:

All of the other reviews here are spot-on...

This album rocks... it may well be his best studio work (though all of his albums are awesome)... it's almost as good as seeing him live... great...

All of that is true and more. If you only buy one album this summer this should be the one.

And, speaking as an Austinite who has seen Alejandro live more than a dozen times, if you get the chance to see him live, DO IT!

That is what I was asking myself from the opening few notes all the way through. I had heard about this album for years, but even the "cult classic" type of thing doesn't describe this work. Every "oldies" and "classic rock" station should be adding several cuts to their playlists. I haven't been "wowed" by anything like this in a long time.

I LOVE these guys ... but ... I am disappointed that the entire album is in English. The intermingling of English/Spanish on previous CD's is part of what makes these guys Texican rockers and some of their songs even more beautiful than if done solely in English. If someone advised them that omitting the Spanish would make this album more commercially acceptable, they were wrong! I'm a blue-eyed blonde of Irish descent and I prefer the real Los Lonely Boys. I think the title track in particular would be even more beautiful with at least part of it in Spanish. If they were to re-release this album with some Spanish cuts, I'd buy it again. They're still the best live band around. See you in NY guys!

This is a great CD to have for the variety of hits. Many of the "Best of" collections are missing a few songs because Aerosmith jumped around between recording companies. This one has Dream On which is missing on many of the collections.

So it occured to me one day that I didn't own a single Beatles CD. Can you even believe it? Arguably the best band in all of rock and roll and not even a greatest hits on my shelf.

Since I'm a tad obsessive when it comes to stuff, I decided I didn't want any run of the mill Best Of, but instead wanted to go through and buy the albums from these boys the way they were originally sent out, so I decided I'd start with the albums that were what many considered to be innovative and the ones I knew I always wanted but never got.

Now my first impulse was to buy "the white album" but upon closer inspection I realized I wanted Revolver and Abbey Road first. And this week we have been playing this little gem on and off. I

The title I stole from another review I read of this CD. I've had this disc in heavy rotation for about 2 weeks now. Excellent stuff. More country than anything on country radio and yet still rockin' as well. If weren't for that geezer show "Sunday Morning with Charles Osgood" I would have missed out on this.

This has got to be one of my favorite CD's from the Pearl Jam universe. But make no mistake... it's NOT PJ (DUH...), despite being in the same neighborhood. It's merely PJ's lead singer taking a temporary step out of his magnificent band to write and record a few short songs for old buddy Sean Penn, as a soundtrack to Penn's latest directorial accomplishment, Into The Wild (which by the way, is an incredible movie). The songs on here are short, but oh so sweet, and most of them are 100% from Vedder's mind. It's not a loud, in your face assault like you'd expect from PJ, either. These songs are for the most part very reflective, and focus on such themes as greed, materialism, inner peace, and happiness; much of what the movie is all about.
