This CD was AMAZING! It may not be the best Beatles album (Help! and Rubber Soul are, in my opinion), but it's The Beatles, so of course, you gotta love it! 5/5 stars!

bought this cd for my daughters expecting to hate it. these boys are super talented and mature beyond their years. also, what a refreshing change for my 13 yr old to this rather than all the stripper and party based hits of the current pop & hip hop charts. plus, bonus edition has cool extras. great price on amazon too!

Yes, there's something tinny about John Denver singing about nature. He comes off like Al Gore lecturing on global warming while living high on the hog in an energy-wasting mansion. I wonder how Denver got to his concerts around the globe? In a carved-out redwood? How did those thousands of fans make it to the arena? By windsurfing? How was the energy produced to amplify his guitar? How was the wealth created for his fans to have disposable income for concerts? Don't RCA's record factories produce waste? It's fine to carp about the smog in Los Angeles. But that smog was created by the industrial society that allowed Denver to have his career. "The Perfect Boy" is another really good one. I can hear a bit of "Strange Attraction" and "Mint Car" in this one and that's cool because those were among my favorites from Wild Mood Swings. Also hear a bit of "alt.end" in there on second listen. Sorry, I've listened to them so much the last 20 years I can't help but hear things that remind me of other songs I like. The b-side "Without You" is one of their best strummy, ballad-type songs. Robert really knocks it out of the park with some great soaring vocals. If you've ever severed any ties with any person, group, or institution this one strikes a chord. That voice! It makes me think of some of the best, most soulful singers ever. Otis redding. Bobby Womack. Van Morrison. Stephen Stills. Not because Ray sounds like any of them, but because his voice just has that very special, warm sound that touches your soul. And he's a damn fine songwriter, too. Trouble, Shelter, All The Wild Horses, and my favorite - Jolene - are wonderful. This wasn't just a promising debut album, when it was released, it was a very convincing one: Ray got it right the first time around.

I have the same issue regarding the sound quality. It's very bad. I don't know the technical reasons why, but the sounds seem too cranked up and all mashed together.

I learned of the band this summer and, after purchasing Boys and Girls and Separation Sunday, I can't get enough. The band has a great sound and some of the best lyrics I've heard in a long time. I'm way too old to be playing music loud anymore, but i cannot help it. THS makes me want play it loud.

So i'm very disappointed in the sound of the new CD. The band comes through once again with great music and interesting lyrics/stories but so much of it gets lost in the quality of the production.
