I downloaded this album from Amazon after seeing the Leonard Cohen documentary ("I'm Your Man") on the Sundance Channel. You just forget how many great songs Leonard wrote until you hear a compilation like this. I had also recently downloaded the 25th anniversary edition of Jennifer Warne's "Famous Blue Raincoat" album (another collection of Cohen songs) and the two have quickly become members of my top ten albums on my iPod...

There's something about Sara Bareilles that works for me. I can't seem to get tired of this CD. It just keeps getting better.

This release marks the most dramatic change in the band's history. The departure of Martin Lopez and Peter Lindgren left a vacuum that was filled by Martin Axenrot and Fredrik Akesson. The new band members are both very talented, but very different than their predecessors. Martin Axenrot's style is a more traditional Heavy Metal/Hard Rock variety and Fredrik Akesson style is that of a traditional shredder. For this release, Mikael Akerfeldt decided to take an unusual turn and write material that sounds more traditional than on any of the band's prior releases. The fact that a good portion of the music is written in major keys adds to the perception. Listen closely and you will hear everything from "Acid Rock" to "Folk" coming out of your speakers. ... ASKING FOR FLOWERS by Kathleen Edwards is an excellent CD. Is it country? I don't know. I usually don't like country music. But I love this CD! Thank you Kathleen; I could listen to this CD over and over (and I do!)

*"Devour." Fast, high-tempo, with pretty good lyrics and melody. Gets a little repetitive, though.
*"The Sound of Madness." A moderate song with great percussion and guitar, but a weaker melody.
*"Second Chances." A slower song than the previous ones, but still has a good tempo, percussion, and some good powerful vocals.
*"Cry for Help." Faster song with awesome guitars, percussion, and lyrics.
*"The Crow and the Butterfly." Slower, with strong chorus.
*"If You Only Knew." This seems like a typical, upbeat rock song. It has good vocals, but seems watered-down.
*"Sin With a Grin." Much stronger with great guitars, percussion, and awesome lyrics and melody.
*"What a Shame." A hefty downbeat song; sounds good.
*"Cyanide Sweet ... Read More:

As a longtime Bruce fan, I found this release just a tad bit disappointing. I still bought it and it's a great single-disc collection, nonetheless.
But now there are so many other collections. '18 Tracks,' 'The Essential Bruce Springsteen' and the 'Live 1975-85' are all out, and are quite a bit better than this, especially '18 Tracks.'
But this has all of the Bruce standards. 'Born To Run,' 'Badlands,' 'Hungry Heart,' 'Atlantic City,' 'Thunder Road,' and 'The River' are all on this set. And the sound quality is superb.
But why didn't they include a song like 'Rosalita,' 'Tenth Avenue Freeze Out,' 'The Tunnel Of Love' or 'Blinded By The Light' as opposed to one of the new songs like 'Secret Garden'? I loved the two new songs 'This Hard ... Read More:

It's a myth that this is a great album.
Metallica's 2 towering masterpieces are "Master of Puppets" and "And Justice for All."
At the time that "the Black Album" came out, Metallica was so massively huge that everyone rushed out and bought this piece of junk. That's why it sold so well. And it did have that Metallica sound, yet to those who knew Metallica best, the "the Black Album" lacked any sincere fire in the soul. It was empty. It was bland. It was Metallica only going through the motions. And creatively, it was the end of the real Metallica.
If you want to buy a Metallica album, buy "Master of Puppets" for it's muscle and purity. Or, buy "And Justice for All," which is complex and takes a while to get use to, but if you're patient, you'll ... Read More:

I was expecting more of a 'Bush' type cd but was pleasantly surprised by this cd. Gavin Rossdale has made a cd that sounds like he become his own individual as did his wife, Gwen. He has done a really good job on this cd and I would recommend it as a must have if you like Gavin Rossdale.
