As others have said, the songs are longer and not quite as crisp. But so what? Most of the songs went right from the CD to my workout playlist. Because in the end, what matters is that the Fratellis are the quintessential British band of this decade in the same way that Kings of Leon are the quintessential American band. Neither could be from the other country. The Fratellis come out of a rock tradition that is rooted in the British music hall, not the American south. They are the heirs of the Kinks, T-Rex, Slade, Oasis...highly melodic, highly rhythmic, insightful, funny, and just plain fun. Give me these guys over the world-weary Arctic Monkeys any day!

I have no idea why, but this record and "The Forgotten Arm" absolutely clicked for me after eight listens. It's like the entire album opened up and demanded my attention. Before that point, they sounded like a batches of similar songs.
I can't think of another artist where this is the case, but if you're finding this record to be just "OK" after a few listens, keep playing it. It's another amazing disc from one of the best songwriters around.

Liked the CD, but no where near as much as Solo Acoutic 1. Browne is great solo, a thing not many can do. Just not many songs I really really liked, and Browne does have many great songs to chose from.

Sounds of Summer, yes! Year-round summer is what California has always represented to the rest of the USA. The Beach Boys sang the surfer lifestyle into American and world consciousness, and doing so declared California's musical and cultural independence from the East Coast. The Beach Boys also sang the independence of teenagers of the Baby Boom, with cars and purchasing power, from their parents' generation of frugal, anxious conformists shaped by the Great Depression. They sang the primacy of summer and outdoor life over the stuffy classroom and grimy workplace. There's not a word of piety or propriety in any of Brian Wilson's songs; the Beach Boys were prophets of a life style free of shibboleths, in a world of sun-tanned smiles and endless summer. How ... For those who like the new generation of female singers like Sarah Harmer, Ingrid Michaelson and Feist, Yael Naim is a great addition. Her songs, in English, French and Hebrew, are very melodic but not too slow or countrish. I like the fact that she doesn't have a heavy accent but nevertheless has one. I think that her songs even has some sort of "coolness", which may be the reason why Apple chose to use one of her songs on the commercial of the new Mac Air.

This album is so good that its honestly challenging of me to think of which ones are my favorites. This album will grow on you each listen. My husband got this album for me as a birthday gift and I am glad that he did. The reason being is that I really thought all of the songs on the cd are great. However my top five favorite songs on this cd are "animals", "if everyone cared", "rockstar", "saving me" and "follow you home". The thing that I like most about this cd is that it is an all purpose cd in the fact that you can listen to it in multiple occasions. I have listened to it on my way to and from work, when I go for walks outside, at work, and at home. The best thing about this cd is there are is going to a song for everyone that is on this album.

Gosh, what a tour de force! From the opening "bop" of "Keep on Going" right through all 13 tracks the good Doctor is on form, on song, on rhythm & on message here. There's cool jazz, funk, swamp blues & great contributions from the guest artists, in particular Eric Clapton & Terence Blanchard.
You know, a lot of "protest" albums suffer from the angst getting in the way of the artistry but not here. For example I was REALLY worried about the combo with Willie Nelson on "Promises, Promises" but by gum it works & makes the words truly resonate - "Promises, promises, empty words, empty words; the road to the White House, paved with lies.....fought in your wars, paid with our lives.....the truth will set you free". Yet the really great thing ... Read More:

The award-winning duo's sixth studio album finds them in familiar territory. As both Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry dub their new Sony disc, this is the "quintessential Montgomery Gentry album". Such a statement raises the watermark as the two have scored more than their fair share of hits; notably the inspirational, "Some People Change" and the blue-collar anthem, "Something to be Proud Of".
Both vocalists have a chance to shine, often at the same time as the baritone Montgomery and tenor Gentry trade lines gamely.
The set features fewer ballads than previous offerings, leaning towards their signature rocked up honky tonk sound, not dissimilar to fellow super-duo Brook and Dunn and owing a debt to the Southern Rock stylings of Lynard Skynard ... Read More:

I don't think this is Floyd's best album, but it is rock solid. I've always prefered Meddle to this. Still, it's a must own for any Floyd fan or rock enthusiast in general.
