I, like many others, bought this cd after hearing Barra Barra on Blackhawn Down. I was pleasingly surprised to find that the rest of the cd is nearly as engaging. Garab is similar, with rhythmic lyrics and rock beats, and ala jalkoum is a ballad equally as entertaining. For people who like world music, particularly world flavour blended with western rhythmic beats and an edgy essence, this is a cd to add to their collection. Best songs: Barra Barra, Ala Jalkoum, En Retard, Garab.

The strangeness of this CD is completely captivating. The mix of Thai stylings and Western pop music of the mid-20th-century is intoxicating. I heard it for the first time at a friend's place and had to have it right away. Right on first listen, I knew it was unlike anything I'd heard before. And the whole album meets expectations. It's not only a novelty -- it's also rhythmic and fun and rockin' and sweet. Everyone I've played this CD for has adored it and wanted a copy. The cover art is also quite...stunning.

This was my very first Garmarna CD. I bought this album by blind dumb luck, having never even heard of Garmarna, and I was completely enthralled by it. After close to 5 years it is still my favorite album. Emma Härdelin has gorgeous stirring vocals, and the beats will move you whether you understand the language or not. Their music is both traditional and contemporary with a little tribal edge mixed in. You will want to play Vengeance over and over. After hearing the unique music of Garmarna you will feel compelled to beg and plead for them to tour near you, or at least I did.
