I heard "Je ne te connais pas" on that Mitsubishi commercial (isn't that a lame way of finding new music?) and really liked it. I checked Prototypes out online and liked a couple of the other tracks that I heard, so I got the album. This is a fun CD with a few good tracks--I listen to them now as part of my gym-workout lineup. I don't think this is a CD I could listen to over and over again just for fun, but for energetic workout music, it's OK.

heh i just got back from 10 days in cambodia...didn't get a chance to hit up any of the local music scenes but hearing this, i wish i had. anyway, this really is the yin to the second album's yang...mostly because once you're finished listening to "escape" you simply must have more of this intoxicating stuff.

Everyone else did a very good job of reviewing this album - I just wanted to comment on how when you listen to this album and ponder the western influence, and then ponder a film like the killing Fields and how the Khmer Rouge came to power..... Yep....kinda sad....

This album has literaly changed the way I think about music. These guys are so smart and talented it makes me feel stoopid, and I consider myself a musician! As good as any album out there (The Soft Bulletin, OK Computer, Sgt. Pepper's lonely hearts club band, Animals, III, Going Blank Again, Modern Life is Rubbish). Bob Dylan's songs are truly world music. They speak to all cultures, but for the most part, I like Dylan doing Dylan best. I loved all four of the new Bob Dylan songs. "Down in the Flood" and "Cold Irons Blue" are my two favorite of the four.

For me, the standout was Shirley Caesar doing the cover of "You Gotta Serve Somebody." It's outstanding and the one song that's gotten a lot of play in this house.

Los Lobos does a great job of "On a Night Like This," giving the song a romantic Latino flair singing part of the lyrics in Spanish. I probably would have liked the Jerry Garcia cover of "Senor" better, if it weren't live.

The Italian (rap) version of "Like a Rolling Stone" is a big miss for me. So's the opening ... Read More:

I remember hearing this when it first came out. I was just back from Viet Nam. The fact that I remembered it says something. When I saw it advertised, I bought it, and I enjoy it now as much as I did then.

It's a rare occurrence when I purchase an album and like every song on it... but it happened with this one. You don't need to speak French to tune into the undercurrent of emotion on this album. The title track is quite possibly one of the most gracefully beautiful, romantic songs of all time. Raphael is a true artist.

Here is a nice mix of Serge at his loosest and wackiest moments. This is a good mix. I very much enjoy it. What am I saying, these songs are fantastic. The piano, the crazy back up vocals and Shu Ba Du's. The horns, bizarre pre-rap off style duets, crazy strings. Songs about cars, songs about jerks, songs about bank robbers, songs about suicide, and, of course, songs about love. basically everything that's needed to give you a good time in music listening. If you are one of those people who fell in love with Melody Nelson but lack exposure to anything else of old S.G., and are willing to try a more fun loving out of your mind side, then here take this put it in your music listening device and have a good time. Go ahead, all the kids are doing it.
