I can't believe no one has reviewed this yet?? For those new to,and interested in hearing Serge Gainsbourg,may be somewhat intimidated by the breadth of his back-catalog,let me offer this: He had a long and varied career,like many musicians,with many different "stages".This release,along with "Historie Melody Nelson",are in my opinion his two MASTERPIECES and THE place to start your maiden voyage into Serge's musical world.They are both short,but its all about quality not quantity.

An "ok" album. Still a surprise to me even after all these years how Sheila & the Chic organisation ever got together considering it's such an odd combination. Still, "Spacer" is the main reason to get this. "Don't go" & " Your love is good" are the other very Chic sounding tracks. This album is an interesting option for Chic fans, however, takes a bit of getting used to. "Spacer" was such a bit hit in the UK and I bought the vinyl album back then on the strength of that single and being a huge Chic fan (I still am). The French CD release has extra tracks & uses the original master tapes so sounds better than the re-mastered version (lots of hiss & tracks speeded up etc - the usual suspects on that one). While there are enough good songs of DUTRONC to fill a two cd collection,this anthology is quite perfect.It is not his voice that should amuse you,but the excellent lyrics and that cynical view of life that is of course part of his persona.In his own way,DUTRONC(also a movie actor)remains unique.It's impossible to dislike IL EST CINQ HEURES,PARIS S'ÉVEILLE,a typical list song from this singer.JACQUES also likes retro melodies like L'ARSENE(for the series ARSENE LUPIN starring GEORGES DESCRIÈRES).It is essential for AMERICANS to discover DUTRONC to understand the so called FRENCH flavour.Good luck with your FRENCH studies...Is JACQUES a bastard or a mysogine?If you think so after listening to this collection,you are allergic to his charm.

to appreciate this cd. Roch has a clear, rich, true voice that is well served by this selection of songs. My favorites are : Quelque Part, Un Frere, Un Ami, Apotheose, Ici ou Ailleurs, Ne Plus Aimer, Sauf Si l'Amour S'Evapore, and others. I love almost all of the songs on this cd, a rarity for me. The cd is also well produced and arranged.

I enjoy several other Roch Voisine French language cds : Je Te Serai Fidele - which contains a favorite song of mine - Tant Pis, and Chaque Feu... which contains the songs - J'Ai L'Espoir, Obia and Je Resterai La - which are also terrific. So I do recommend that you explore more of his music if you like Sauf Si L'Amour.

He's just a great singer who sings with clarity and passion.

I have been listening to this CD in my car, and I am very impressed!! The CD is very creative and has beautiful Italian music on it. It is hard to find a non-commercial CD, and this is it! If you love beautiful, creative Italian music, this is his best CD yet, in my opinion.

First , it is a french group but i think the good fresh rock song of this band can please of a large public. The band have lyrics like hip hop bands but with a touch
of french class in plus. If you understand french you will smiling often because they said things that you and me often think but never be willing to say. Musicaly it between punk rock and hip hop with a lot of tint from other genre. A very fascinating CD.
