I believe that Zazie is one of the greatest pop female French artists out there right now. Her music is just so fresh, light, and catchy with a nice, cute, and clever rock edge. I feel that after every album she just gets better, using more interesting sounding rock music into her unique lyrics. I'm glad she's getting some attention in the US, even though im quite surprised that she hasn't crossed over as well as say, Emilie Simon. But hopefully Zazie will one day get airplay, or at least have her CD's sold more often in USA stores!

I'm listening to this album now and it is delightful. Johnny Hallyday's voice just blows me away and the music is awesome. If you want to impress someone you love, listen to this one together for a romantic night.

Lovely ballads and love songs in French. You don't have to understand French to feel the emotions this album evokes. Johnny Hallyday rocks! Tres Bon!

Stereo Total is a band with much depth. they have kitchy songs that are bubbly techno mixed with some punk edges. They sing in so many languages and the beat is so good it doesnt matter if you understand what they are saying. I found out about stereo total because they kept having their music featured in snowboarding videos and then got hooked. they are a bunch of fun and you cant help but have this goofy smile when you listen to their great tunes!

Les Contes du Singe Fou is the third album by Clearlight (fourth, if you want to include the excellent Delired Cameleon Family album). The band was no longer recording for Virgin and now recording for a French RCA subsidiary called Isadora. This album was recorded in late 1976 and presumably released the following year, 1977 (the LP gives a 1976 copyright, although the album was recorded in November '76 and mixed in December '76, which meant it was unlikely the album was released before the year was over, unless it was released within days of the final mixing). Sounds great for having been pulled together from a library's aging casette collection.

There are twenty tracks on this cd, not just the eight listed. The remaining twelve are intermingled Unknown tracks - though they're just as good as the ones identified.

The liner notes mention "tracks 4, 5, 8, 11, 12 & 20 were recorded in Cambodia between the mid 1960s and early 1970s." I guess this implies the remaining tracks are more recent - though this does not diminish anything, the disc feels coherent.
