To think this sublime compilation was nearly lost forever is disturbing. Contrary to the previous review, the poor recording quality does nothing to detract from the joy of this music. Put simply, I can't listen to these songs without smiling. To hear a song like "Yipmerdai" for the first time is worth at least the price of the collection. Anybody who is searching for a new source of melodic bliss need look no further than this page.

Second cd of the comprehensive 6cds anthology covering the career of the king of rock in FRANCE.Few originals in this collection, but plenty of covers including THE BEATLES(I SAW HER STANDING THERE and GIRL);CHUCK BERRY(FORTY DAYS,JOHNNY B.GOODE and CAROL)and THE ANIMALS(HOUSE OF THE RISING SUN).If there was a cover perfect for HALLYDAY ,this is it.It's perhaps better than the original.At this point in his singing career,JOHNNY is in need of original material which will come later.You'll notice that in the translation,FORTY DAYS and JOHNNY B.GOODE have different meanings.So this cd ,like the previous one of this anthology is a mixed affair, worthwhile for fans of the singer.One song CHEVEUX LONGS ET IDÉES COURTES shows the influence of DYLAN.

I bought this CD mainly for the song Marcia Baila. I remember dancing to this in Orlando at Spit night (the new wave night at Park Avenue Club). Loved it then and I still love it now, only wish I could get a copy of the music video that goes with the song!!! The rest of the songs are pretty good, too, but compared with Marcia Baila they're only alright.

Honest-to-goodness, psychedelic garage/fuzz rock from Turkey!Yes,Turkey!This release is apparently a collection of their singles(never released a proper album),all recorded in the 70's.Their name is more or less translated as "depression",and a few of these tracks do indeed sound a bit melancholy.The juxtaposition of Western guitar-fuzz with Middle-eastern "belly dancing" rythms is one of the more interesting concoctions i've heard in awhile.Glad I took a chance on this.Cool!

Florent Pagny has a voice that you cannot help but fall in love with. Sometimes classic, strong, clear, sometimes soft, soothing and sexy and still at other times rebellious. He is a man of many moods and many styles. I consider "Et un jour une femme" a spectacular masterpiece, the type of song that one falls in love with instantly. "L'air du temps", "Y'a pas un homme" and "legende de Carlos Gardel" are other masterpieces that perhaps need to be listened to more than once before being truly appreciated. Florent Pagny takes the French language to new heights. He is a huge talent which I am only now discovering and enjoying immensely.

In March 1969 the original Small Faces played their final concert before splintering into Humble Pie (Steve Marriott) and the Faces (McLagan, Lane, and Jones). By the end of 1968 it was clear that the group was nearing its end as Marriott was hanging out with ex-Herd guitarist Peter Frampton and even inviting him along for gigs and the occasional recording session. Then in late December the group was asked to collaborate on French pop legend Johnny Hallyday's next project, a rock album showcasing Hallyday's attempt at hard-rock. This album has literaly changed the way I think about music. These guys are so smart and talented it makes me feel stoopid, and I consider myself a musician! As good as any album out there (The Soft Bulletin, OK Computer, Sgt. Pepper's lonely hearts club band, Animals, III, Going Blank Again, Modern Life is Rubbish).
