I recently purchased this disc after receiving the Grand Old Opry DVDs as a birthday present. Tammy has a number of performances on the DVD's and they are all very moving and it's great to see her in live performance. To say that her songs and her voice can evoke strong emotions in the listener is an understatement. So, I bought this disc to get a better sampling of The Queen Of Country. She is just magnificent! I'm almost reduced to tears hearing her on these recordings. No matter what your favorite genre of music is, just get this disc and enjoy. On this anniversary of her birthday (May 5, 1942) I'm reminded of the great loss we all suffered at her passing.

Here's where it all began to unravel for the once-mighty Derailers. Jackpot and Reverb Deluxe are essential. Full Western Dress, while it has a few moments, is watered-down and bland in comparison. One look at the songwriting credits tell you the band is running out of steam, as they relied heavily on guest writers for most of the material. Their hearts just didn't seem in it, and this would only get more true on their next release.

This is a good compilation of Shaver's best work. This was the first album I listened to of his and I was immediately hooked. My favorite song on the album is Georgia On A Fast Train, but there isn't a bad song on the whole thing. I also recommend reading his (very interesting) biography. It especially makes some of his songs more meaningful to know the context they were written under.

Capitol country has done a fantastic job with these five 2 CD sets of Haggard's early Capitol LP's. Mastering is pristine and the extra cuts are all well worth including, especially Jimmie the Kid. Booklet including liner notes is thorough as well. GREAT job by Capitol, only wish they were continuing this set of releases beyond Haggard's first 10 Capitol LP's.

This is one of the best CDs of any Kind that I have ever owned. I am really speaking of the tape that I bought of this when it came out. I think I had one of the great evenings of my entire life the second or third time I listened to this on one evening in 1983 or 1984 beside a little lake where I lived in Opa Locka Florida, at a time when i thought things were pretty bad for me, but just listening to this music and these words hit the spot.

In justice to Haggard, this music was recorded more than 22 years ago. Some of the players in the great touring and studio bands that he put together during the late 1970s and the early 1980s are no longer living or have retired from music.
