by: Merle Haggard

Release Date July 14, 1998
Great Merle Haggard songs performed by him and an uncredited band in the eighties, in chronological order, from his career beginning through the mid-eighties. Sound is excellent, arrangements are different enough to be interesting but not so different that they take your mind from the originals. Merle's voice sounds excellent throughout. A reasonably-priced compilation done by an older, wiser Haggard. A good companion to the original tracks. Recommended.

Release Date June 13, 2006
This set is over billed and is missing a lot of hits also the sound of the sun material is not good they sound better on the coletable set but well worth it for the rarities should have been a four disc set where is "Hot Damm I'm A One Woman Man" and the "Rock And Roll Medley"?

I've Always Been Crazy is really a great tribute to Waylon Jennings. one of the best CW singers ever.

It is worth it just to hear 'Lonesome, On'ry and Mean' by the legendary Travis Tritt.

by: Dave Dudley

Release Date February 15, 1996
Glad I got this one, while in the Military, we all shared music, and I got to hear several Dave Dudley albums, eventually I taped over them as my stereo equipment improved. This one has some classics, well worth the cost. Six Days was my favorite, the girl on the billboard, the pool shark, me and old CB. The sound of the backgrounds is a classic of the period too. Everyone should have this album for driving 30-35 minutes, and some old Doors as well. It is what it is, every song is a classic.

All I need now is Give Me Forty Acres and I'll Turn This Rig Around.

Population Me

CD-Charts > Music > Roadhouse Country
by: Dwight Yoakam

Release Date June 24, 2003
One of a kind stage presence, screenwriter, director, actor, and one of the most unique and versatile voices in the business. Renaissance man Dwight Yoakam's 2003 album was generally considered his best since 1995's Gone (in my opinion, this does not include is fantastic Come On Christmas or his all acoustic album that was a special treat for fans). This set may not be as consistently superb as the '95 CD or it's predecessors 1990's If There Was a Way and '93's This Time, but there is something that makes this kick harder than two albums of his in particular, 2000's Tomorrow's Sounds Today and despite the great title track, 1998's A Long Way Home. My least favorite of Yoakam's influences is the Bakersfield sound, and Population Me does not suffer from the ... Read More:

Tomorrow's Sounds Today

Release Date October 31, 2000
This album is totally Dwight, meaning totally unique and awesome!! This man does not put out anything other than great music! I mean, you've got Dwight's stellar songwriting and singing, plus the legendary Buck Owens on a couple of tracks, and accordion playing by Flaco Jimenez for goodness sakes! From the opening track to the very end, this album is a classic. My least favorite of these gems is probably "For Love's Sake," but even that is good. And it's hard to pick, but (today anyway) my favorite song is "A World of Blue," followed closely by all the rest!

The Essential Marty Robbins: 1951-1982

CD-Charts > Music > Roadhouse Country
by: Marty Robbins

Release Date December 09, 1991
With the exception of Eddy Arnold, Jim Reeves, and Johnny Cash, no other Country artist had as big an impact on the more lucrative Billboard Pop singles charts than Marty Robbins, as no less than 24 times did he crack the Top/Hot 100, with another eleven just missing by making the "bubbling under" charts. And among that 24, four were Hot 100 hits only as Cap & Gown [# 45 in 1959], Is There Any Chance? and Ballad Of The Alamo [# 31 and # 34 respectively in 1960], and I Told The Brook [# 81 in 1962] did not make the Country charts.

He had, to his credit, SIXTEEN # 1 Country hits, beginning with his very first for Columbia way back in 1952 [I'll Go On Alone] and ending in 1976 with Among My Souvenirs. Both are in this box set. In addition, he had 78 other ... Read More:
