This album features Dwight's wonderful voice, excellent musicianship and production and a nice variety of songs. Best song to me is "It Only Hurts When I Cry," co-written with Roger Miller. I also love everything else except perhaps the last track, "Let's Work Together." That's the only one that's less than stellar for me. The rest are superb, and they make this album a true classic. To me this means most people would like it throughout the years no matter what music they tend to ordinarily listen to. Even if they "hate" country music, they'd have to like this!!

If you are a fan of real country style music and yearn to hear great guitar backup and superb steel guitar played with genuine emotion and finesse, this is the album for you. If you do not have any other of Wayne Hancock's discs, get this one. Although it is a "compilation" album, it was recorded LIVE,at the Continetal in Austin, TX. The musicianship is outstanding as well as Wayne's genuine, in your face, delivery. This is raw Texas style country with no apologies. The LIVE setting really shows how good Wayne and his band are. It is the real deal and should be required listening for any country band members as an example as to "how it should be done".

I always return to Yoakam's music when I grow tired of today's modern country and need to hear some "real country" . Yoakam's diversity continues to amaze me. He's certainly a genius in his field.

What's mainstream Rockabilly?
Carl perkins, Johnny Horton, Johnny Cash, some Wanda Jackson.
Mainstream is a purer more refined sound.
This is pretty rough.
I would advise everyone to listen to the sound bites first so your no suprised. I never have been able to listen with Windows media Player to this sound bites although I use it for other music.
To use Amazom sound you need the new Mozilla Foxfire and Real player.
Even then some cds don't have the sound bites available.
I love Rockabilly, I guess with more of a country flavor than rock.
When asked to tag this product some of the suggestions were 50s punk, 50s punk rock. I'd say that fits the cd more than Rockabilly does.

I am so glad to have this in my collection. It is worth owning just for the original performance of "Lovesick Blues" at the Opry, the moment that catapulted the King of Country into the stratosphere and elicited six encores at the time. Some of the comedy is corny for today but it is still a great time capsule of what the Grand Ole Opry was like for listeners all across the country before the birth of rock 'n roll. This is a must have for any fan of Hank Williams.

I've Always Been Crazy is really a great tribute to Waylon Jennings. one of the best CW singers ever.

It is worth it just to hear 'Lonesome, On'ry and Mean' by the legendary Travis Tritt.

Larry Cordle is perhaps the most under appreciated writer/performer that no one has ever heard of. Although this album does not break any new ground, creatively speaking, it never the less is an excellent addition to Larry's catalog and a must have for his fans.

For those who have never listened to the artist perform his own work, Cordle's style could be described as a fusion of country and bluegrass with overtones of the blues and a good dose of attitude. His lyrics are often clever and well crafted, sometimes poignant, but always touching on his genius at turning the memorable phrase that makes country and bluegrass so affecting.

If one were to purchase this album I'd be willing to bet that they would then look up Larry Cordle's other recordings ... Read More:

This is a great album. If you like the Bakersfield sound and Buck Owens, then you will like this group. Have all but one album and will order the last one "Jackpot".
Wish there were other albums coming out.

What a fun album of great country and rockabilly tunes. Grady Martin is of course the legendary and often uncredited sideman whose work as part of the Owen Bradley's A-team made him one of the top guitarists of the era.

While not as slick as the Chet Atkins, Grady Martin's work clearly illuminates the intersection of Western Swing, Honky Tonk Country and Rockabilly that was brewing in the early to mid-1950s. While many draw a direct line from the Blues to Rock, a more accurate map passes through these other areas of popular rural music in the southern and western United States. Jeff Beck may owe a greater debt to Bob Wills and Johnny Horton than most people think.
