Peter, Paul And Mary is a self-titled album that gives us here on CD all the songs from their first record album. The sound quality is great and I love that artwork! Peter, Paul & Mary could never be forgotten.

"Early In The Morning" starts off the CD with a stunning melody--Peter, Paul & Mary sing and play this without a superfluous note! The beat is somewhat sped up, a tad more so than I've heard it before, but it still holds its own very well. Peter, Paul & Mary sound absolutely great on this track! "500 Miles" is another touching ballad that moves me whenever I hear it; they harmonize so well and the guitar work again enhances the natural beauty of this classic folk rock ballad.

This is a new "record" compilation on one CD. The sound is great and the content is excellent. What a wonderful memory to have again in my music collection. Part of this collection is from an old Glen Ford Western (Advance to the Rear) that cannot be seen anymore, but the music is fun, rollicking and happy.

Most of the songs are a really nice representation of all the things Seeger supported. It's more tilted toward organized labor than peace. Some of the songs are less than professional versions of the songs for which he is known - I guess it is because the recordings are quite old (nearing 50 years!). If you like folk music, it's a nice buy, but get it at a cheap price because it isn't something you'll listen to over and over again.

Until about 10 years ago, the first three Clancy Brothers albums were only available on trashy reissues that had terrbile sound quality. Now, here they are remastered and restored for future generations to enjoy. The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem would become the biggest names in Irish folk music throughout the 1960's and 1970's, performing all over the world, including biannual concerts at Carnegie Hall in NYC. The very first album they ever recorded was done in a kitchen using only harmonica and some sparse guitar. Otherwise, it was just the four of them belting out traditional Irish songs. It is so funny to read the reviews on this album. So many reviewers talk about how Shel is "best known for his children's books". When you see this, know two things, these folks are under 40 and/or grew up very sheltered! As someone who does not fit that profile, by barely a few years, let me give the another perspective.

Do you remember hearing "On the cover of the Rolling Stone" on the radio? Then you heard "Sylvia's Mother", "A boy named Sue", and/or "Marie Lavaux". Such bawdy fun songs, but different artists. Then the thread became clear, Shel Silverstein wrote all of these.

I just love this recording. It makes me feel good. Very simple arrangement, with no frills and just two young sisters that can be heard that their hearts are into these songs. They must of had a great time, and it reflects into the the whole feeling of this album. It certainly rubbed off onto me. Please Carly make a new album with the same emotion.
