The Chocolate Drops are good for their age and will improve as they grow older and have more instructions and practice. I have heard better young people as well as many who were not as good. Again I say that with more practice and exposure they will be one of the better groups in the near future.

Didn't get excited about Magic Slim & the Teardrops the first time I heard them. Big, greasy Willie Johnson guitar work, Jimmy Reed slurred vocals, same fatback backbeat drums, nothing special about the setlist. Didn't get excited about Magic Slim & the Teardrops the second time I heard them, either, and so on and so forth through a lot of years to the present.
The thing is, during all those years, Willie Johnson and Jimmy Reed were passing away, and other road acts billing themselves as Chicago blues acts either lost track of the attitude or burned out. Magic Slim & the Teardrops are still enthusiastically at it, doing those songs that way because that's what they do and that's the way they like to do them, no matter who or ... Read More:

Indigenous continues to climb my "favorites" list when it comes to music. This album is a little more low key than Chasing the Sun -- trust me, not a bad thing. Broken Lands is a really good album that stands on it's own. It's the same blues and feel that defines Indigenous, but it's looking in a different direction this time around.

The name of this album should be "I Am the Greatest!" because that is what this album is for Stevie Ray. Any blues/rock lover will absolutely wear this CD out because it is the vary essence of SRV music. The only CD left to buy is his Live at Austin City Limits, his best performance ever in my opinion!

Stevie Ray Vaughan and his music has accompanied me for a significant portion of my life. I'm certain many of us can say that. It wouldn't have been the same without him. I remember one time, looking over at my best friend dancing on my coffee table...
I also miss the El Mocambo that I knew; that small, cheesy, unpretentious blues and rock club that insisted on decrying any temptation to adopt the latest music fashion or decor. I enjoyed many beers there over the years, as have many much more famous than me.
This DVD's marriage between two hallowed institutions now gone is a fitting one. It doesn't have to be the best sound; it just has to be the best. And it is.

To call Chris Duarte one of the best guitar players walking the planet would not be an exaggeration. That would, however, be selling him short. Chris has been making fine quality albums for a number of years now. Always with solid song writing, good production, and fine backing from some tremendous musicians. All of these things are in play with Vantage Point. What has become more obvious is the increased range and power of Duarte's voice. Whether growling a smokey blues or wailing a rock tune about some female who done wrong, his versatility continues to amaze and impress. Instrumental prowess is there to be sure, but what Chris is able to accomplish with his voice is nothing short of amazing. With each new album he experiments more boldly and more ... Read More:

This is not a serious BLUES ALBUM. It is fun to listen to......but I exspected a much more serious SONG SELECTION for these 2 great singers. The "TITLE SONG", is some-what of a joke song. The song "DAY's OF OLD", just doesn't sound like blues. And "I WANNA BE", sounds almost like a rock ANTHEM. The rest is really good, but at 12 songs it's rather short. I would suggest, since BB KING is 82 yrs. old, that these guys get back together and make a serious sounding......DEEP.....blues album ( OLD GRITTY, RAW BLUES SONGS ). BB ain't going to be around forever ( THOUGH HE SINGS LIKE IT ), so hurry up...CLAPTON.

There is a huge amount of Muddy Waters-compilations out there, and while MCA/Chess's two-disc, 50-track "Anthology 1947-1972" is certainly more definitive than this Geffen compilation, it does offer a very good overview of Muddy Waters' career.
Opening with the classic 1948 single "I Can't Be Satisfied", this CD takes you through (most of) the highlights from the 1950s and 60s. "Hoochie Coochie Man", "I'm Ready", "I Just Wanna Make Love To You", "Mannish Boy", and "Got My Mojo Working" are here, of course, and in the original versions, too, but it's a shame that some slightly lesser known (but equally fine) singles like "I Love The Life I Live, I Live The Life I Love", "She's Nineteen Years Old" and "I Want To Be Loved" are missing.

I'm not thrilled by this album. I like Lang's bluesy renditions but I would have liked a few more cuts that have the energy of the title song.
