'Guaranteed' is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. It makes my heart ache every time I hear it. The instrumentals, the vocal, the lyrics, they just send me. I was never a big Pearl Jam fan through the nineties, so don't expect any accolades or comparisons here. I "googled" Eddie Vedder just to find out who he was. I recently rented the dvd and the music has haunted me every since then. I bought the cd and enjoyed listening to it tonight. The 'hidden' track came on while I was busy cooking dinner and I had left the cd in play. I might never have known about it otherwise. This cd is as long as it needs to be. The Cold War Kids first album, Cowards, showed me that new music does not always suck.

That said, this is a review for Loyalty to Loyalty. I appreciate the lyrics, diversity and lack of conformity of this album, however I find it hard to listem to. It feels likes it's caught between worlds, pop, art, poetry,...I support any artitst desire to experiment, grow and try different things, but for me this album just did not grab me like their first effort. While it would be hard for any band to match a debut album like "Cowards," this one did not even come close for me.

As smooth a production as this current version is, even the Tony award winning Paulo Szot and perfect technique of Kelly O'Hara can't match the vocal beauty and excitement of the original cast. Of course the music is timelessly great but the woman who sings Bloody Mary doesn't capture the native sounding joy of the original. Ho-hum. I'm afraid broadway singing has gone the way of the rest of American culture - into mediocrity.

I'm so loving Estelle's CD, I bought "Shine" on the strength of just the "Pretty Please" video! I then heard "American Boy" with Kanye, and was even more intrigued with Estelle. Looking at her gorgeous brownskinned face and seriously fabulous wardrobe, I saw a kindred fashionista as well as a talented singer/rapper. I had the pleasure of looking at her "1980" video a few hours ago, and now I have to run down her first CD and buy it. I want more Estelle, and I thank John Legend and Kanye West for noticing her genius and allowing this American Girl the chance to hear her fabulousness.

I'll admit at first listen I wasn't completely impressed. After a second listen I fell in love with the album (just took me a while to get adjusted to the "new" Alicia). Some of my favorites are No One, Superwoman, Lesson Learned, and Teenage Love Affair.

Great album. You get alot of variety and a new side of Alicia.

I stumbled upon Joshua Radin's music and ended up buying "We Were Here". The music is slow, and somewhat sad, so you want to be in the right mood to listen to it (although I listen to it whenever), but it's great music.
