The single, "Shook me all night long," was what got me hooked on AC/DC. The groove, the sound, even the odd-ball vocals had me paying attention.
This album is hands down a rival for their best work. It's energetic, entertaining, and sounds good at any volume. Sure, it's "meat and potatoes" rock, but it doesn't need anything fancy.

I just got this CD and went to play it last night, but through the entire CD, I got a hissing, static like sound. This CD does not work on all CD players. I tried it on my computer and it worked fine, but not my main stereo system. I tried other CDs on my stereo system and they worked ok. Must be the way they recorded it to the CD. Will be going back to Amazon for refund as defective. It should work on all CD players. Manufacturing problem which should have been noticed before releasing it.

It's been almost 11 years since Portishead released their last self-titled album (I'm not counting Roseland NYC Live). The three member group of Adrian Utley, Geoff Barrow and more prominent Beth Gibbons have been often credited with making the trip hop genre more mainstream. Originating out of Bristol, UK, Portishead introduced their hometown sound to the commercial radio waves in 1994 with Dummy. With downtempo hip-hop beats, a touch of turntablism, and Gibbons' staple vocals, Portishead instantly created their own style and with that came a vast following. It's no wonder then, that when appropriately titled Third album hit the shelves, it was snatched with a hunger. Prior to the album's street date it was released on last-fm and attracted over 327,000 listeners ... Read More:

Let it be said that Miranda Lambert is the best artist to emerge from a 'reality show' on any station in any musical format. That this "Nashville Star" graduate had a great voice is a moot point, but few could have predicted that she would make a timeless, classic album such as "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" so early in her career.
The album title is unfortunate (I would have preferred that she chose something more laidback or meaningful), but the album is most decidedly a grassroot country album that gives you true country in this era of pathetic pop-rock being passed off as country. One listen to this album and you will not be able to take Carrie Underwood or Taylor Swift seriously anymore. The 'country music' that they make is fake, at best, but granted they ... Read More:

First of all, MGMT? Is that "Management?" "Meenage Gutant Minja Turtles?" "Mey Gight Me Tiants?" Beats the hell out of me, and their website ("whoismgmt") is no help, either.
The album title, well, seems to be communicating some sort of remarkable event involving an oracle, or one that is, by inference mystical and difficult to interpret. Me, I think they just thought it sounded clever, and it rhymed, too. The depth of this title was not reflected in the music.
And what is this ridiculous promise of "multi-dimensional vibrating Technicolor sounds?" That's a pretty tall order, and I took up the challenge. I listened, carefully, living with this release in the car for two straight weeks. I heard absolutely nothing that I would characterize ... Read More:

While it's always nice to hear a new one from Alice, this record is inferior in every way to his last one, which was a kickin' great fun rock and roll record with a great band, great songs and a cool nod to Detroit. It's a drag that fans always seem to await a return to the "Welcome To My Nightmare" period. That album had a (lousy) hit, but was nowhere near as good as "Killer", "Love It To Death" or "Billion Dollar Babies". Still, Alice rocks, and I'm enjoying this new one - just not as much as the last one.
