Classic Rave 2

Classic Rave 2 isn't as good as Classic Rave 1, but it's still good.

Included are the classic beyond classic "Chime", "Vamp", and "Don't You Want Me".

However the track listings are wrong and "rave Alarm" and "Feel Cool" are replaced with Acen's "Close Your Eyes" and 2 Bad Mice's "Bombscare"

Over all a good look at the early rave scene and many of the tracks wont let you stay still, buy Classic Rave 1 if you dont alreayd have it, C.R. 2, and Classic Acid also, which is part of this series.

If you like the "Jesus Jones sound" (grungy electro-pop?) of Perverse, Doubt, and Liquidizer, then you will enjoy this album. I'm surprised no one here has mentioned it, but the track 'Top of the World' has to be one of THE best songs I have heard in 10 years, profound in its lyrics and construction. The album is worth it just for this one track. It's a statement on being on the brink of suicide, at which point does life become too hard to take? The rest of the songs on the song are strong, there is no song I skip over when listening to this CD, which is always a good sign. Solid!

Zoo Rave, Vol. 1

I originally bought this as a cassette in 93. Back then I loved every moment of the cd, in retrospect, most of Zoo Rave really doesnt stand up vs. the production of today, but still holds its place in history, for me at least. A time where Breaks, House, D'N'B and trance all kind of existed in one song together.

I recently purchased the cd and had quite a laugh listening to some of the songs, but was also surprised to find that my favorite track Xenon - Hellfire, was produced by Richie Hawtin and John Aquivava, two of my favorite producers to this day.

Overall if you were one of the lucky people to enjoy the rave scene early, when there WAS more of an underground thing, you will not necesarily remember these songs in particular, ... Read More:

Hed Kandi: Disco Kandi 05.05

Well, the first unmixed Kandi compilation after Mark Doyle's departure was always going to be tough...

At first glance, Disco Kandi 05.05 has lost pretty much all of the quirks that made Hed Kandi so unique. Gone is the sexy girl on a beautiful background, replaced with a barely amateur and totally lifeless graphic. I have no idea what's going on in the background, but it's boring, and the paisley pattern looks very dodgy. The sleeve notes make it look like the design changes were deliberate, but we all know they were forced on them. Not their fault, but they could at least be honest.

The tracklisting on the reverse is simple, which is not necessarily bad, but there is a lot of white space. Also, the huge "53" (to indicate the 53rd ... Read More:

This is mostly Cox's own work from start to finish. How does it pan out? Well he is one of the very few DJs to do this, but he is no Van Dyk and this album is certainly hit or miss. I think it is good to see Cox try something like this and it does show that he has a lot of musical talent but he is SOOOOOOO much better when is just hitting the decks and this is really what people want to hear. So approach with caution, even hardcore Cox fans may not like it.

first watch exorcist 3....i know...not the best movie out there but if you do watch this movie first, you'll realize that a lot of the "lyrics" are lines from this movie. Anyone else caught this? Try it....and the music is kinda old techno but still kinda trippy. have had this cd for a very long time already.
