before i get harped on, lemme say rainy days kick azz. this album is like a little downtime preview of Praga showing what his off season is like. with 2 bangin' new trax (breathing new life N2 JeanGenie & Lust4Life) that are str8 from heaven and a compile of mixes from other rare singles, this is a gift for the US public and a good album for on the way to the club, sippin coffee or just havin a nice drive on a rainy day. if you wanna hear some different PK, this is one way he serves everyone, by giving u a taste of some of the harder2find mixes of his mixterpiecez. if u liked this u'll like the luvUstill single!

The reason I bought this cd was not for its lyrical content though when spoken they add to the coherent composition of this thematically crafty, and well-rounded early piece from The Shamen.

Most people knew them from the Top Of The Pops smash; Ebeenezer "E's are Goode." Hence some hardcore dance, or rave purists were probably tempted to write them off for this, and like sounding singles. With keen interest in a few things nostalgic I find this album as something that now gives their image some dimension, making it clear that they aren't all about Mr.C prancing around the place yelling; "naughty, naughty, very, very naughty." I will never forget the banal, cheesy hit "Please Don't Go" for the indelible image of a fellow waiter at the restaurant I worked at in college showing off his dance moves to this song, churning his arms in the air, while grinding his pelvis in front of an ice cream freezer. Oh, the thrills of the early 1990's.

I only recently discovered The Shamen on Internet radio, and I made the mistake of buying "Boss Drum" because it had almost all the songs I was interested in owning. Sadly, though, the "album versions" of nearly all the songs fell pretty short of the versions I'd been grooving to. Then I gave "The Shamen Collection" a shot, and it was absolutely perfect. "Ebeneezer Goode," "Boss Drum," "Phorever People," "L.S.I." (which were the ones I'd bought "Boss Drum" for), plus the excellent "Move Any Mountain" and the cheeseball-but-still-enjoyable "Destination Eschaton" have made me a happy boy. If you've heard The Shamen on a broadcast or on a dance compilation or from a P2P download, you've probably heard what's on "The Shamen Collection."

A lot of songs you'll know on here. Enjoyed pretty much all of them. Only drawback - these are the radio edits - so you'll get the 4 minute versions of songs, not the extended dance mixes. But you'll get to put a song to an artist/title. Given this is for sales used for pennies - go ahead and get one! :)
